Re: SOLD

Dear Bernhard, as far as I know there is no wiring diagram. The engine and bike were never designed to be together. The wires from the engine to the regulator caused me trouble but if you measure the voltage with the engine running you will find you get about 15 volts on 2 pairs of wires. You need t...

Re: 2006 Enfield Diesel, whats it worth?

To be honest I'm not trying hard to sell it. I would rather it went to an enthusiast which is why it has only been offered on here. Also, like many of my ex-bikes I love it and dont want to see it go but you have to move on and I have other interests now which take time, space and money. If it doesn...

Re: 2006 Enfield Diesel, whats it worth?

Hi, the bike is still available, just waiting for the right buyer. It seems most people want to build their own these days.

that makes sense and would also explain why one of my 2 spare tanks has gone rusty inside, the only one that had the cap on.

fuel return line/fuel starvation/air bleeding

I just thought I would pass on some experience incase others have similar issues on their engines: Air bleeding: the easiest way to bleed air from the system is to fit a rubber bulb pump between the tank and filter. After changing my filter, I bled air from the entire system with 5 pumps on the rubb...

Re: The Big Knock 2011

Thanks guys for organising another rally, it was a good one this year and the morris dancers were interesting entertainment. I had a long trip there and an equally long one home thanks to some low quality (but free) fuel. I will be washing out the tank and ordering a new filter! I am really glad I f...

Re: Things that happen on a ride with a diesel bike :)

Hey, cool stories! my favourites from personal experience are: "Is that a real one then?" (I knock on the tank) "I think so!" "how old is that then?" "2006 model" (guy looks at 1966 plate) "are you sure?" "I think your timing is too advanced&quo...

Re: Big Knock 2009 - 29th May - 30th May

I will be coming down from Gloucestershire again this year, same bike, few new parts, few more fell off, not much different really.
I hope to bring a camping chair this time to avoid the wet arse I experienced last time on my first ever camping trip.

Graham.

I would like to say thanks aswell to all who arranged this meet. It was my first long run on my diesel (150miles each way) and my first night in a tent. It was great, see you all next year I hope. slightly off topic, but "how about my carbon footprint"

seriously though, you could call a diesel bike club "please overtake"
now that would sit just fine on the back of your tshirt!

I've not heard of any complications with frame welding, it is only one weld after all. You dont need the 5 speed, 4 is plenty especially with the yanmar engine (better than the standard enfield diesel).

Hi Fiddler,

heres multimaps version of my route, I havent looked closely into what roads to take but presumeably the A40 will be good for most of it.

edit:
ok, multimap links dont work! I am coming from GL20 5TQ anyway

Thanks Stuart, So its pretty much ok to just turn up and pay then. I really hope I can make this trip. The way I figure it is : on a 70 mile trip to my local enfield dealer, usually 1 thing falls off, so on the 140 mile journey to the Bat and Ball, I will expect 2 things to fall off, so as long as n...

Thanks again Dave, you have certainly clocked up some miles on that bike! I think mine is only on around 5000km so far. I'm glad that my use of regular oil is OK. diesel oil

Hello,
can anyone suggest an oil for the greaves diesel engine in the enfield?

it only has a mesh filter so I guess non-detergent oil would be best?
I am currently using diesel car oil but now I am putting more miles on it I want to be sure I am doing the right thing for the engine.

You're right, 13hp doesn't sound like a lot, but I thought it might be a more compact size and if it takes a car up to 50 mph, then maybe 70 on a bike is possible?

just wondering if you've seen the Aixam diesel cars? their 500cc diesel twin might lend itself to motorcycle use, they are common on ebay.
