Re: Hero concept diesel motorcycle surfaces

The 1970's are back again! It reminds me somehow of 1970's concept bikes. Maybe the bike designers have been going through back catalogues of old bike magazines for design inspiration? At least it's a bit of a break from basically producing Honda "knock off" clones! :P The performan...

Re: my v-twin diesel engine cant idle

As gilburton stated, it should either have a fuel shut off solenoid, or be shut off mechanically by moving the normally spring loaded engine governor link arm beyond it's normal at rest position. Move the arm one way to increase the engine speed (throttle action) to max. Moving it the other way to m...

Re: my v-twin diesel engine cant idle

Yes, gently run a new diesel engine in for at least the first 300 to 500 miles when installed on the bike is always a good idea, as well as frequent oil changes initially, again around every 500 miles.
Then it should run and idle smoothly (for a diesel!) and be reliable hopefully :P

Re: Fully enclosed chaincase for Royal Enfields.

That's quite right gilburton, deliberately used for chain inspection purposes! I found out that Enfields incorporated this chain inspection method in their fully enclosed chain cases, several years before Honda incorporated it in their designs! This is used on a Royal Enfield from the mid 1950's. En...

Engine shutdown mod for diesel Enfields.

One other modification I came up with last Autumn, which might interest some other Diesel Royal Enfield owners, who have the electric solenoid fuel shut off fitted. Mine was a standard fit, fitted by Henry Price. I found that the fundamental flaw was that if the battery went flat, or there was an el...

Re: Fully enclosed chaincase for Royal Enfields.

Some internal rubber anti- rubbing strips were added, where the chain case sits against the swinging arm and the rear drum assembly. Then a final bit of adjustment of the plastic fill in panels could be done, using my hot air gun and with care with my fingers!! slowly moulding the plastic edges arou...

Fully enclosed chaincase for Royal Enfields.

Since there are quite a few diesel Bullets around, I decided that this mod info would be quite useful. As I had the opportunity and access, whilst changing my rear wheel bearings, I decided to get on and finish my fully enclosed chain case project. I was getting a bit fed up with the lack of protect...

Getting sidetracked from diesel bikes!

What if anything has sidetracked you from diesel bikes recently?! I've been away from here for a while, being sidetracked for the last five months by my Mobylette project. I picked it up as a non runner, and a bit of a 'rolling wreck' for £150, from a damp back garden in Eastbourne. The poor thing l...

Thanks alexanderfoti - there's always hope for these Yanclone engines! Re: Yanclone/Suntom 186F No compression fault finding & repairs

Just an update on the engine repair/running so far. The engine has run really well last year, though I didn't use the bike as much as I would have liked, due to the lousy weather! The bike got through the annual MOT test in December with no problems at all, and the engine doesn't smoke much at all. ...

Re: shaking the feeling

The old "rule of thumb" is that if the part attached to the bike looks tatty, it usually is, and will fail when least expected and most inconvenient!!
So if the bits attached to the motorbike overall look good, they generally will be, and will be reliable - we hope!

If you successfully fix all the problems, the motorbike will eventually be reliable to commute on. After I sorted out the engine on mine, with better quality bits, it starts and runs first time and is reliable. I regularly use the motorbike, and will be using it to December. Then it's winter break t...

I wonder how may EU bureaucrats involved in this nonsense have ever ridden a motorbike, or even swung a leg over a bike? I think virtually none!
