Re: Howdy from Texas 2014 Upgrade
Hello all, Been neglecting my account here with too many other projects and work. Don't know if I mentioned it here on the forum via another email, but here is where my '80 Suzuki 850 conversion stands: Upgraded from 10 hp Chinese clone generator engine to a nice Kubota OC-95 single a few years back...

Re: How much more RPM will she take?
Decided to tinker some more with my fueling screw and go for a ride. My bike now makes more racket than I ever though possible from an engine its size... I think I'll put the screw back to the factory setting or risk a run in with the law. I wish there was a way to set the screw correctly (optimized...

TedV, Okay well if you get the numbers and can post, that's cool, thanks. I found two websites selling the gage/meter and probe for $106 plus shipping.
Ron, What kind of rig do you have there with a blower plenum attached? Some kind of pressurized intake manifold?
Thanks,
Cris

EGT gage
Can someone recommend an exhaust gas temperature gage that can be adapted to a single cylinder engine? It's time I get one for tuning.... I'm also looking for a combo amp and voltage meter to monitor my bikes charging system and battery health.
Thanks,
Cris

Re: A Hatz ID81 for an Enfield ?
Sibbo, I don't know about using an Enfield frame, but a larger frame could work if you cut the top back bone tube and integrate the top of the engine as part of the frame. You'd have to forget the fuel tank, and mount a tank either under the seat or along side the rear wheel and use a lift pump to g...

scooter turbo charger
The subject of turbo charging our one cylinder diesel has been kicked around for a long time. Here is a turbo that's being used on small bore scooters: http://www.chinese-parts-canada.com/turbocharger_fuel_injection.html For $300 it might be worth a try on a clone engine. Lots of tube welding and fa...

Air filter suggestions
It's time for a performance air filter. My OC-95 original filter was slightly crushed, but useable. I'd like a durable free flowing paper filter with one of these foam wrap around filters that can be lightly oiled....any suggestions? I don't think there is enough forward speed for any type of ram in...

Re: How much more RPM will she take?
Well, last Sunday I broke down and decided to tinker... I backed the fueler screw out 1/4 turn...with the lower gearing, I was able to hit 50+ mph on the flats....exhaust sounded real good. I might try another 1/4 turn...don't know cause I don't have ETG...might be a good investment.

Sphere, I owned a '98 or so Bullet 500 and didn't have a lick of trouble out of the clutch or gear box. Clutch disengaged well and life was good. Why does your Enfield give you hell with the clutch pushrod? Dumb question, but are you pushing too much spring? My brother in law has a Bultaco 250 road ...

Hondajohn,
Being a single speed drive, it looks like you've got a pretty good top end speed...what is the reduction ratio? Nice build!

Justin, When you wire up and use the starter motor, make sure you have the compression released engaged, if you try and engage the release and it doesn't take, rotate the engine CCW (pto end) 45° or so until the release holds, when you engage the starter, the engine needs to spin thru the compressio...

Justin, Looks like a light weight ride, when those clone engines are broken in, they rev right up...with that straight pipe, your ears will bleed from the noise  You have a piece of sheet metal missing from the front right cylinder that wraps around the cylinder to the pto side. While drivi...

I've got my OC95 running pretty good after 2 months and waiting for repairs and installation. Using the same gearing as when my bike was Kamaclone powered produced less than needed top speed of around 45 mph flat out. Today, I dropped my jackshaft sprocket 1 tooth to 14 and went for a spin, top spee...

Skoleskibe, I'm going to throw this out for a possible explanation of the difference between your friends Chanfa and a generic clone engine. First, Chanfa represents quality and good construction, I've owned one of their engines and would buy another (no longer imported into the states), second, The...

Re: At last, roadgoing
Skoleskibe, Very nice and creative bit of engineering! After getting used to the ride, you might want to reduce the fueling a tad to minimize the black smoke. When I first got my Kamaclone, it smoked like your engine viewed in the video. You can adjust the amount of fuel injected by removing the saf...

I was never able to get my clone engine to idle lower than 1,250 rpm....could have something to do with the fact it was designed as a generator engine and fuel timing advance was to much.

Very creative method of attaching the cylinder head to frame, should stiffen the bike up a good amount....you're not going to flex a clone engine. What gearbox are you using?

Dougy, Nice photos, and it looks like you've got a solid drive train set up. Let us know how she pans out on your first road trip. I'd get the bike up on a center stand and run your engine up to full speed to check for binding and make sure the drive unit will retract to its idle position. Using a t...

Oily, Granturisimo handle bar grips. OEM's put them on many a bike during the 60's and early 70's...look them up on eBay, that's where I got mine for $19.95 a pair (21/27mm) for 7/8" bars. If you look up "titty grips" on google, you'll see some websites selling them for a lot less, bu...

Last night I decided to re-tighten my torque converter just as a precaution. Re: 4:1, 6:1 ??:1 that is a royal question
Well I just ran some numbers on how my bike is set up. I'm actually running 4.8 to 1 rear ratio with a 15 tooth jackshaft sprocket and 72 tooth rear sprocket. So with my torque converter I'm running approx 14 to 1 in low to 4 to 1 in high range. I think 6 to 1 is a good starting point, but everyones...
