The subject of turbo charging our one cylinder diesel has been kicked around for a long time. Here is a turbo that's being used on small bore scooters:

For $300 it might be worth a try on a clone engine. Lots of tube welding and fabrication, plus a need to plumb a oil feed line and return for the turbo's bearings....any thoughts? My guess getting a small boost for another hp or two might be a real gain, not to mention an improvement to fuel mileage.

Hmmm that looks idea.
I have heard that If you turbo a 1 cylinder (like the 186 chengfa) you will need a plenum chamber after the turbo and before the intake to increase the area.
How would fueling be addressed on those little engines?
Im assuming a exhaust shop should be able to weld up an exhaust header in no time.

Nice link, its the same turbo I have here, been to crook to even think about installing it on the Enfield.
For those who will run this turbo, make sure you have a good oil supply - if the displayed turbo is identical to the one I have, it has bronze bearings, not cartridge roller ones and needs good oil pressure to keep the shaft afloat to stop it destroying the bearings.

Andrew , bronze bushes in a turbo ? What rpm would you expect the shaft to rotate at ?
Is yours Chinese or Japanese ?

150,000rpm is not unusual for turbos and generally speaking, the smaller they are the faster they will spin.
