Im having troubles securing a steady slow idle on my MZ Yanmar bike.
It seems that the heavier springload on the govenor, the more secure slow idle, how come?
Regards

I was never able to get my clone engine to idle lower than 1,250 rpm....could have something to do with the fact it was designed as a generator engine and fuel timing advance was to much.

Re: Secure and steady idling yanmar L100
A good friend of mine has a MZ with Changfa engine (yanmar clone) his engine is really low and steady idling, just about 900rpm, i guess mine is idling at app 12-1300 rpm, any slower and it'll die after a few seconds, slowly loosing revs.
At the same time his engine starts at first or secund combustion, and little or no throttle given. My engine won't start unless i give it full throttle and after 5-10 compressions. Im wondering if anyone can explain to me the functions of the spring loading of the govenor, ie how different spring force influences the throttling and the idling.

Skoleskibe,
I'm going to throw this out for a possible explanation of the difference between your friends Chanfa and a generic clone engine. First, Chanfa represents quality and good construction, I've owned one of their engines and would buy another (no longer imported into the states), second, The Changfa may have been designed to operate across its entire rpm range, where the clone could be set up to run at max rpm. How is this so? Could be timing, the injector used and cam profile. As I mention in an earlier post, my Kamaclone would not idle lower than 1,250 rpm, and my Kubota OC95 does not like low rpm, so I set it up to 1,250 where it's happy as a clam. I think having an engine run at a low rpm reduces cooling and oil pressure...but that's just my $.02 worth

Just replaced my fuelinjectionpump, voila, its tickover is now in the 8-900 rpm region. furthermore it starts at a minimum throttle, and at first compression
