What the hell are titty grips?

to my suprise a google search actually found some

Oily,
Granturisimo handle bar grips. OEM's put them on many a bike during the 60's and early 70's...look them up on eBay, that's where I got mine for $19.95 a pair (21/27mm) for 7/8" bars. If you look up "titty grips" on google, you'll see some websites selling them for a lot less, but you really want NOS grips.

But I do have a set, fitted for years and very comfortable.

We called them that back in the day....probably got the name from some older bikers. My '72 Titan 500 had a pair of 'em. So far I'm very please with the set I just bought. Here in the states if you go shopping of grips, the local bikes shops will try and sell you a set of black foamy rubber with chrome end caps for $30, and of course, they only fit 1" bars.....

I had a pair of grips just like those on my old (borrowed) KZ900, then on a CB750 that I rode for a short while, then on my CB550K until it got rapidly parked in the backseat of a Mazda that darted out into traffic. Totalled that bike to insurance, kept the grips. Have no idea who manufactured them originally, but I've got 'em sitting in a box somewhere in storage.

But you're totally right about bike shops overcharging for a crappy set of chrome-slathered grips. I just hit up the local boneyard whenever possible. Even fleabay is way overpriced generally.

Interesting photo....don't know the manufacturer of that brand, maybe a Chinese deal? The Grandturisimo grips I bought came out of Italy Remember, not all tittie grips were created equal

Yes, the bike shops around here are equipped with much of nothing. I guess I can't blame them, why stock crap you can't move? The internet has been really hard on "mom and pop shops".... when you go inside and ask, they flip open a well worn catalog with 10 year old prices....when you place the order thru them, you get the new price which includes a nice adjustment for time/inflation and their markup By then, if you back out of the deal, they make you feel like a cheap bastard or worse, a thief. I don't buy into all that crap, so 99% of my shopping is on line. Saving on state tax pays for shipping in some cases. Here in Texas, everything is super high dollar, and priced like gold. If you have a car or bike that runs, it's top of the line and priced as such. If you go north, stuff goes down in value drastically and inventory goes up...don't know why. Here, if it is dead, someone can fill it with compressed air and sell it for "living".
