Enfield project for sale in UK

Due to impending loss of storage, lack of time and lots of other excuses for not finishing it, my Enfield Yanmar-clone project is for sale. Comprising: 1980 Enfield India 350, without engine. V5 in my name. Bought dismantled but very complete. Tinware was brush painted some time in the past but is s...

Re: Kubota won't start!

Operator's manual gives battery spec as 12V 36AH.
I second the jump-start suggestion for narrowing down the problem possibilities.

Re: flywheel key broke

Key is acting like the Sacraficial Lamb to some other issue that exist. There should not be any great force acting on the key, the close fit of the tapers should taking the forces. So I agree with Coach geo that there is some other problem. I wonder if there is a mismatch between the tapers of the ...

Re: SOLD

Well done Bernhard - I am glad to hear that your mighty beast is running! My own Enfield/Yanmar-clone restoration and build is progressing slowly but I try to do a little every day even if it is just a few minutes of rubbing down paintwork. I hope to hear mine running this summer.
Best wishes,
Richard

An owner's manual for a later model which may help can be found here: http://sites.google.com/site/alokbalsekar/home/owner-s-manuals It is in .rar format so you will need some software (easily found on the internet) to unpack it. I don't know this model very well. Some small diesel engines use an el...

Re: L100 Engine Failure (fuel related)

Hi Snoopy - as I understand it, all the fuel pumps vary a little due to prodution tolerance and the shims are used to set the timing correctly at the factory when the engine is first built. If the fuel pump is replaced, then the timing needs to be checked and adjusted by re-shimming if necessary. Gl...

Re: L100 Engine Failure (fuel related)

check your valve clearances first. just because it has some compression doesnt mean it has all the compression. .006" intake and exhaust cold. do you have your throttle open to allow pump to give full fuel? Do you have access to a compression tester? Something like a broken piston ring, cracke...

Re: enfield 13hp diesel

From a search online, it seems there is an increasing range of variants on the same basic design from a number of Chinese manufacturers now:

186F (L100) 86 x 70 = 406cc
186FA 86 x 72 = 418cc
188FA 88 x 72 = 438cc
188FB 88 x 75 = 456cc

Re: enfield 13hp diesel

As far as I know, Yanmar don't make an enlarged version of the L100, only the 406cc 10hp version which they have made for many years. The 13hp engine is enlarged by increasing the stroke by 2mm to give 418cc. This is produced by some of the Chinese 'clone' manufacturers. I believe that Price Parts s...

150,000rpm is not unusual for turbos and generally speaking, the smaller they are the faster they will spin.

Re: What is a Yam clone's % efficiency ?

Yes - following the same calculation for a 400cc industrial petrol engine, efficiency comes to 21.5% so 22% is a very good approximation.

Re: What is a Yam clone's % efficiency ?

I stand to be corrected, but from data on the internet and assuming that the engine is working at maximum output at 3600rpm (actually this is not true for a motorcycle application because the engine will not be working so hard all the time and the revs will not always be constant if used with a gear...

New member - penybryn - starting out on build

I am gathering together the parts for a Yanmar clone / Enfield build.
Is anyone else doing similar in South Wales at present?
