I remember the day I got a lift on that bike from the airport to my first diesel bike rally.

Re: Injection problem Smart Merc CDI. Frankebrick
Looks like combination of flow, pressure and partial blockage over time to me. As the filter becomes more plugged it resists the fuel flow. Then when engine demands more fuel the pressure drop across the filter becomes larger and crushes the filter. Also explains drop in power at higher demand but O...

Re: Injection problem Smart Merc CDI. Frankebrick
Sounds weird to me. Which side of the fuel filter is your low pressure gauge on?
Is the issue isolated to resetting the low pressure pump or could it be that resetting the ecu is actually what resolves it each time?

Re: The FrankenBrick Smart BMW build
I thought of using the Cotton Braided fuel hose but as the fuel system runs at about 3 bar, I wasn’t altogether certain that it was strong enough. I have seen those convoluted water hoses before and I would have considered them had I not been able to utilise the original Mercedes Smart hoses. I am ...

Great thread. You might already know this but make sure not to do any welding with the ecu in the bike.

Re: The FrankenBrick Smart BMW build
Hey just saw this on Facebook. Looks like you are making some great progress and plenty of build info. I am sure you will get on well with this project. The ECU I used (and others like the marine guys) is no longer available unfortunately. It was nice and small but also quite restrictive in what you...

Re: US connect in problems
Hi guys, I am not seeing any issues that would throw up a 404 message. Only thing I can think of is perhaps it happens at some time of night (UK) when we are all cozy in bed and the members in the US are on here. The 500 error was indeed a weird one. I figured out the issue but not why it happened. ...

Re: Bloody insurance!
Sorry to hear the hassle you are having. I too have found Carole Nash have gone downhill which is a shame since I always used to go with them. Bikesure (Adrian Flux) were good with the modifications to my bike but were quite expensive. Footman James are a lot better but could not cover me at the sta...

Re: Tiger brake discs
Hmm my discs are pretty worn due to the crappy non-sliding sliding calipers mostly. Am giving consideration to swapping the whole lot out for something more decent. Never seem to have time at the moment tho.

Re: Head phones.
Don't know about legality but plenty of touring guys use earplugs like these - http://www.ultimateear.com/motorcyclist.php From what I have read though the leads end up breaking on any in-ear headphones used like this on a bike because of the use they get. I use an autocom fitted into the helmet and...
