ahhhhh... mucho potential for either stock rebuild or diesel transplant.
Rattle noise could well be the known issue for that engine called DAR (Death Alternator Rattle) which is an issue with the stator and a bearing. Bit of PITA to repair but not bad if I recall correctly.
