Re: Coventry Victor Opposed Diesel

I think they could build one, but they don't want to.

They prefer to build bikes that need a rain mode cause of their unusable amount of power. Strange but true.

Re: Coventry Victor Opposed Diesel

Correct me, if I'm wrong. This is a very nice find, of course. What do we have in the end? - They build diesel engines for boats - They have said they wanna show a dieselbike, back in 1932 - Nobody has ever seen it So it could be, that, they announced it, but for some reason it never enters the stage.

It's amazing how many different engines they must have build. There are many photos on the website. Photos! No renderings!
Is this the same Bernard Hooper that was an engineer at Norton-Villiers?

Supposedly there is someone up in scandinavia has converted an HD twin cam from a 1340 cc gas to a 950 cc diesel We are now concerned with dieselmotorcycles for more than 12 years. We heard several stories about conversions like this, but have seen no one. There were enough opportunities, but nobod...

Can't find that this is diesel related.
Cause it's more than 20 years old the development of the M1030M1 hasn't started yet in the UK at this time.

This is something that might be interesting ... if it is ever finished.

And we spread the news and talked about it more than two years ago, when some videos about the engine were posted.

The E4000 seems to be the only source for this very rare Honda V2 Diesel Engine.
But it's a nice engine and I'd love another bike with it.

Then use the car gearbox but get the drive from the second shaft in the box rather than from the diff output like other builds. What makes this possible is that all cars of this era started off mainly as 4 speed boxes and then as sales pressures went up they all competed by offering 5 speed options...

Re: "Diesel Model" in the 10th May 1956 issue of The Motor Cycle

It's always struck me that engineers in the 1950's could convert an existing bike to diesel; If it could be done then why not now? We have two converted machines back in the 1950s. Not more. Did you noticed the engines needed a mixture of Ether and Kerosene to start? Maybe nobody wants to deal with...

Probably best to produce a kit so the ppl could buy that to convert their Rocket 3's. Have you ever seen a Rocket rider on our rallys having an interest in diesel bikes? I haven't.
