Re: CVT and hills- a no go?
Hi there, I have a Kubota Z482 (13hp) engine with a comet 94c/90d set up...I also have the problem with slowing down on hills...but I think that is because I have the drive pully set up with extra weight to engage at a lower rpm which causes the centrifical portion of the drive to have more force re...

Hey everybody on here I thought I would give you an update...the ROOPOD is on the road and working well, Team ROOPOD was in the Green Grand Prix in Watkins Glen, NY USA on April 15th and we got 77mpgs...we were able to maintain 41 mph on a hilly 2.43 mile track, still need to tune the rear driven cv...

Re: Comet 94c driven adjustment
wow, that is some book! will take me some time to digest all of that! The clutches in there make the 94c look pretty primitive! Thanks for the link...I will post back when I decide what I want to try first...probably either lighten up on my pucks a bit, or increase the spring preload in the 90d driv...

Comet 94c driven adjustment
Has anyone adjusted their 90d driven pulleys? I am asking because I feel that on my build (see www.roopod.com) that the cvt is not downshifting enough on big hills...I have 9 of the heaviest weight pucks and the lightest spring in the 94c driver pulley, just wondering if anyone has fooled with light...

...by the way this problem is limited to the forward drive! reverse engagement by sliding gear is fine...just the strait through for forward is the problem! the dog clutch has teeth that have (had) a slight undcut and now are rounded over! they are only about 1/8" tall and there are only three....

Hi there everybody, I have a real problem with my build...see it at http://www.roopod.com ...the reverse gearbox that I was trying to use has proven no match for the torque from the kubota z482 cc engine running through a comet 94c cvt. the gearbox, rated at 16 hp did not like the torque from the 13...

That's a comet f-n-r box...it is (or should say was) made to go with comet cvts...but alas no more...that being said, I am somewhat dubios of the quality and durability of the box, it has a rather flimsy feeling shift lever made out of plastic...we will see if it holds up. It is supposed to be good ...

Re: Kubota Engine transmission question...
Hi there, Balboa... I got a stock Kubota stub shaft adaptor from a Kubota engine dealer.... I had to cut it off a bit to be right for the Comet... I have set my Final drive ratio to 4:1 with a 21.2" tire with the Kubota's 3600 RPM and the CVT ratio, it should go 65mph...or so...I hope it's not ...

Re: CB350 tranny + Yanmar L100 ... How I did it
looks like a normal engine to me, CCW rotation, it's just mounted in the frame, reversed ...primary drive on the right...not the left...that's why the chain tensioner is on the top run of the chain...original drive for that tranny would have been with a gear, likely...so it makes sense that's my 2ce...

This is interesting...have you tried preheating SVO with that setup....would heat up a lot quicker than a coolant heated setup...I would guess...plus heat the fuel in the tank...no sign of the fuel getting too hot and forming deposits in the turbo? I have a old 20+ years MSR XGK multifuel stove that will burn just about anything liquid...if I remember right, with diesel, or kerosene, you have to use something like a drop of alcohol or gas to put in the pre-heat cup...then it works fine...here is the modern version...it's $150.00 US...but mine'...

Re: CVT and final gear ratio
Hi there, I was just wondering, with all this talk of final drive ratios and all, don't we need to know the rear tire circumference to make sense of these numbers (or perhaps everyone is using the same rear wheel/tire?)...I ask because on my trike project, I am using a tire that is 19.1" actual...
