My Kawabota project .
Well I have the d722 in the kawasaki vulcan 800 frame it functions on the stock wire harness the biggest problem I am having rightnow is the rectifier/regulator , I blew the headlight today and fried the battery over the past week . I need to finish the jack shaft and cut down the stub shaft . hear is a clip , I will try to get a rolling clip once I get the clutch completed . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgFOt-aUG7o

Are you using the Kubota alternator? I couldn't tell by the video. The alternator for a Kubota I picked up has an internal regulator, just one wire to go to the battery and one to the ignition switch through an idiot light for excitation. Really simple, same as an auto setup. I looked in the junkyard for a small car alternator that was a little more powerful and saw a few Toyota and Nissan jobs that were the same size for about $35 guaranteed. Just would have to modify the bracket and change to a V pully and it's a go.
Nice job on the bike, is that a turbo I see? Want to see that puppy going down the road!
Good luck

Re: My Kawabota project .
Thanks for the advice smoky but I got everything sorted yesterday . Yes this engine has a kubota permanent magnet alternator/dynamo but it doesnt have a reg/rec. built in . I was able to use the stock reg./rec. from the bike . I had taken the first one and experimented with it because I was thinking the dynamo was a dc output device "I was wrong" so had to buy another one , it is a two phase ac device . Yes thats a turbo on their I am hoping for around 30hp with it , although I think the vibration isolators may be too soft and may need some type of torque arm or damper to keep the drive chain from twisting the engine .
you may be able to see the turbo a little better in this clip .... http://www.youtube.com/user/toyotaracer ... oX9xqDSCTc

Re: My Kawabota project .
My Kubota alternator is a "regular" auto type with regulated DC output, just like most cars except a bit smaller. Glad you got it all sorted out. Not much smoke out of your beast, that turbo probably helps a lot. That should get some good efficiency over my naturally-aspirated 950. Maybe after I get everything sorted out I could graft in a turbo, who knows. Just trying to find the time to work on my Hatz bike right now, so the Kubota is all greased up and sitting under a tarp waiting.
Keep up the good work!

Re: My Kawabota project .
This Kubota engine has a fuel adjustment , I turned it up quite a bit after the turbo . Im sure once I get it on the road and the turbo starts making more boost I will be able to turn the fuel up even more , with all of the gasoline engines I have turboed I have found their is a fine line between efficiency and too much hp . I will have to try a few different boost levels and fuel levels .

Ok , finally got some clips . I will try to get some real footage once I get this comet to stop slipping and can actually whack the throttle full . It will run 85-87 mph @ 3900rpm but midrange slips . enjoy

Hey Roo , I think the turbo will be a perfect compliment to your MPG goals . I notice " I am sure most already knew" when I adjust the fuel I can make it very clean burning with good MPG or sacrifice MPG and make more power . Where a gasoline engine would detonate when trying to lean out more than 13 to 1 .
