Re: Punsun V2 Diesel/K750.
I removed the rear seat and replaced it with a small cargo rack. I never liked the lines with the seat, now I feel the bike looks longer and sleeker. For a while I didn't have anything on the rear fender and that looked cool too, very low rider. Bike below in its new form. Sno-bro https://uploads.ta...

Re: Punsun starter upgrade - Beware!!
hi,
You mean the geared starter?
Try sales sales@vtwinengine.com. He was very helpful.
The actual sale was through aliexpress.com, you can see the geared starter for sale there. Don't be shocked with the price, you'll negotiate it separately and it was not as bad as it seemed

Re: Diesel Dnepr from Ukraine
great looking bike! Congratulations! You have the newer Dnepr gearbox, I think a fifth gear can be installed in place of the reverse? And you can also get faster third and fourth gears, or change the rear drive to something faster like 9/35. I have had some problems with vibrations with mine so bewa...

Re: Punsun Dnepr build with questions
Hi,
yes I did. You can see some pictures in the following discussion:
https://www.dieselbikeforum.com/view ... =31&t=2301
the discussion includes a link to a short video.
The bike still runs fine! Although it does leak some oil and fuel that I need to attend to.

Re: Punsun Dnepr build completed
A short wrap up on my first (short) season with my diesel bike. The summer here was very wet and cold so I didn't ride as much as I'd like, but I did do around 500km total. Relatively comfortable 80kmh cruise, although I'll look into making some vibration damped handlebar holders. No shortage of int...

Re: Punsun Dnepr build completed
Got my biked registered today! Of course it is raining here all day but just had to take it out for a spin. 8) Runs as expected, comfortable cruise at around 80kmh. My throttle linkage does not allow full rpm (yet), so I expect top speed to be more then that after some modifications. Vibrations are ...

Re: Punsun Dnepr build completed
yes, it is interesting how the regulations are country specific. I know of cases where I modified bike had not passed roadworthiness here in Finland, so the resourceful builder "sold" it to a friend in Germany, it passed there, then he bought it back and it was licensed in Finland as an im...

Re: Punsun Dnepr build completed
thanks everyone! Putting on some final touches today, like trying to get the front brake to do something. :D Beautiful IC espe! The 350 two stroke is a great engine, but I'll bet the sidecar is quite a bit for it to pull? I've customized the gearbox ratios quite a bit, so I expect about an 80kmh cru...

Punsun Dnepr build completed
I've finally completed my bike. It was sure a lot more work then I figured! I still need to get the road worthiness paperwork done and the bike legal for the road, but that should not be a problem. In the process I learned to do chroming which was something I'd not done before. Actually not chroming...

Re: Punsun starter upgrade - Beware!!
yes, you could put a couple of washers, but you'll need about 1cm worth.
I got the starter from sales@vtwinengine.com. He's been on this site also at least on the member introductions. They were very helpful and the prices reasonable.

Re: Punsun starter upgrade - Beware!!
Yes it does. This is where I messed up as I thought the starter is a constant mesh type. It is not, a solenoid will move the gear forward considerably during a start. My engine does not have decompression levers, that is why I went the geared starter route. The new style starter is way stronger. I'l...

Punsun starter upgrade - Beware!!
I'm on the finishing touches of my Punsun V2 Dnepr build, and did some test runs already. Everything was very promising! Everything works close to what I've expected. Today I run into some serious problems and the bike is now down for some time. This a word of warning for anyone thinking about upgra...

Re: Punsun Dnepr build with questions
Sno Bro, have you calculated your road speed at 3000 rpm? A great looking build mate ! :D Hi Sibbo. Yes I have. Assuming a 215cm length of the rear wheel, my very fast 4th gear (1:1) and standard rear drive (8:37) will make 3000rpm 83kmh 3600rpm 100kmh If they start to seem too slow I can easily up...

Re: Punsun Dnepr build
Thanks for your support guys! Right now the boring part is ongoing: sandblasting. It seems my hair has a small beach worth of sand every time I finish the evening :D. About the 6cm more wheelbase: My bike came out at 7cm increase. In addition the forward down tubes are bent forward to allow for more...

Re: Punsun Dnepr build with questions

Punsun compression releases
Did my first engine run test on a Punsun V2 in a Dnepr frame build. Everything went according to plan, even my self designed mechanical engine kill switch and idle adjustment system worked. However the starter really has to work hard, and as I'm told the original non geared started is not known for ...

Re: Punsun crank failure theory
Interesting write up! Re: Punsun crank failure theory
I guess I was just being hopeful... If you have a turbo Punsun with belt drive and no problems it sounds more like it has nothing to do with the mounting direction. What is interesting is that everyone seems to know that a lot of the Punsun cranks have failed, but no-one seems to actually knows how ...

Punsun crank failure theory
Putting hours and hours into my diesel bike build (Dnepr + Punsun V-2 + manual gearbox), reading about the Punsun crank failures keeps me worrying. After all the hard work and countless days am I going to drive around the block and push back a bike with a crank failure The thought sickens me. I just...

Re: Punsun Dnepr build with questions
The injection line is NOT ordinary fuel line or brake line. The pressures even in these small diesels are in the hundreds of atmospheres, and in this is a pulsating pressure putting a lot of stress on the metal. In addition there is constant vibration. I visited the local authorized Bosch diesel ser...

Re: Punsun Dnepr build with questions
Thanks for your comments! Henk, any pictures of your bike? Would be nice to see! I found pictures of Locomotivebreaths bike, very nice!
