Just to close this thread, I'm pretty sure I have identified the cause of my problems. I stripped the new (Chinese) fuel filter assembly as it appeared the flow was at least 50% less than the original Robin fuel filter I fitted. I found the rubber seal in the fuel tap partly blocking the fuel passag...
