Re: Hello from sunny Scotland

Additional info.

There was also a Robin Diesel Trials Bike on Ebay around 4 years ago which I believe was also your Grandfather's. Beautifully built but a bit heavy for trials!

Re: Hello from sunny Scotland

Paul,

See attached for you info.

I did a fair bit of research into Robin Diesel Enfield's so if I can help further, let me know.

Re: Hello from sunny Scotland

Paul, I live in Kent and purchased the remaining Robin Diesel stock about 5 years ago with the intention of building a replica of the Yellow Peril. I got most of the bits and converted a frame but sold it to a guy in Folkestone to put the money to build a Triumph Tiger Cub Pre65 Trials bike. I still...

Re: Robin Enfield Yellow Peril Replica Build

I was going through the publicity posters I got with all the conversion parts and discovered the Yellow Peril was actually McLaren Racing Papaya Orange! I've been trying to find out the colour for 4 years and the answer was sitting on my wardrobe! There seem to be a number of variants but I guess a ...

Re: Robin Engine Questions

Many thanks for your responses, they are all appreciated. Stuart, I spoke to Tony Dymott a couple of nights ago and he was very helpful as ever. His Robin Matchless is similar to the Enfield. He has cleared up the base engine mounts (mounted direct) but uses a different primary drive and gearbox I w...

Robin Engine Questions

Oh, it was going to be so simple! Having resurrected my Yellow Peril Replica Build I realise I have loads of photo's of a finished Robin Enfield but none showing the inside of the primary drive! Can anyone help with the following: 1. Can you confirm that Robin Enfield's (or Matchless's) have the eng...

Re: Robin Enfield Yellow Peril Replica Build

Hi, it's been a while! After many other projects interrupting and the arrival of my first Grandchild, my Son and I have resurrected the Yellow Peril Replica Project Build. I seem to have collected a number of DY 42 engines and am ready to build a nice shiny electric start one. I have loads of photos...

Re: Partner wanted for hemp oil motorcycle project in UK.

I don't know about building a bike as I have only just started building my own Robin Enfield diesel. However, if you want to build something similar, I have spares of the majority of conversion parts including a good Robin DY42 engine (electric start bits also available). Or if you just want a look ...

Re: The Big Knock 2016 Rally Date

Hi guys, I haven't been on here for a while! After having the bits laying around for 3 years, I finally started building my 'Yellow Peril' Replica! Mainly because my Son wanted a project so we decided to do it together. My doner Enfield is stripped and we should be tacking the Robin Engine Mount in ...

Re: ebay Enfield Robin (not mine)

Contacted the guy. He has stored it for 18 years. Runs fine, just needs an MOT apparently. Previous owner was RB Engineering (Robin Redbreast?) and it's registered as 'heavy fuel'. This looks like Ernie Dorsett's Trials bike. Would that make it more valuable? I suppose not as it isn't famous enough....

'Yellow Peril' Robin Enfield Project and other parts

After obtaining virtually all the parts I need to make a replica 'Yellow Peril' Enfield, other commitments mean I have made only slow progress. I now have the opportunity to buy another pre 65 Trials Bike (my main interest) but do not have the room for both! For this reason, I'm putting my Diesel En...

Re: Robin Enfield Yellow Peril Replica Build

I'll have you know my mate Wes (originally from Salford) is rebuilding the engine with his 14 year old Son. He posted the photos. I have given him a knackered (e bay rip off) electric start engine and a really nice (e bay bargin) DY42 pull start engine. He is going to make one nice electric start DY...

Robin Enfield Yellow Peril Replica Build

After a lot of thought I have made the decision to build one bike with the Robin Redbreast parts I bought from EBay last year. Bearing this in mind it seems fitting that I should make this bike as closer copy as I can to the iconic 'Yellow Peril'. I already have most of the parts and will use the or...

Re: DY41 Robin Diesel Engine and Enfield Conversion Parts?

My Son has my immaculate 2000, 350 (petrol) Enfield at his house and has put it on e bay. I have a nice but not immaculate 2005 350 Enfield Bullet Trials (in dark metallic blue) tha...

DY41 Robin Diesel Engine and Enfield Conversion Parts?

I am now the proud owner of 3 Robin Diesel engines but only intend to build 2 bikes maximum! I am also running out of space rapidly! I have therefore put my electric start DY41 jet wash on e bay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331253840783?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT It...

Alan,

I also live in Kent (Hythe) and attended the Big Knock (I was driving the Caterham). What a great bunch of likeminded people. :D

Add to this I have a 2005 Royal Enfield and enough conversion parts to build about 3 Robin Diesel Enfields, maybe we should have a chat sometime! :)

Re: I've just purchased a load of Enfield Robin stuff

Peter, Nice to hear from you. I attended the Big Knock Rally a couple of weeks ago (I felt slightly out of place in my Caterham 7!) but had a great time. Everyone was really friendly and enthusiastic. I spoke to a couple of Robin Matchless owners and had a look at their bikes. This has reinspired me...

Re: Robin DY42 Problems

Cheers Gilburton, I guess I could just turn the fuel off at the filter and crank it over with a bit of easy start or wd40. I'm going to get a couple of fuel filters from ebay or midland power so I don't damage the injector or pump from my good engine. There is a local diesel place who would probably...

Re: Robin DY42 Problems

O.k. I had another go at starting my DY 42. It pops when turning it over on the starter with a fair bit of black smoke coming out of the exhaust. However as soon as the automatic de compressor releases it just stops as the starter cannot cope. I have tried squirting easy start into the inlet (air fi...

Re: Robin DY42 Problems

Having just looked at the manual, I don't think my engine has the oil level sensor option. Even if it did, it should fire up on a squirt of WD40 into the air inlet. However, I was wondering if if something might be wrong with the Automatic Decompression System? I may loosen the intake rocker adjuste...

Robin DY42 Problems

I took a bit of a gamble on a DY42 electric start 3000rpm engine attached to a 5 kva generator set and bought it unseen. After removing the engine and putting it on my test bench, I noticed it didn't have any oil in it! However it turned over o.k. I fitted a fuel tank (got a separate big tank with t...

Or possibly bring my Caterham 7
I would love to look at some finished bikes and meet some of you.
I'm assumimg I just turn up and don't have to book.

Re: Robin DY35 Starting Issues

Just to close this thread, I'm pretty sure I have identified the cause of my problems. I stripped the new (Chinese) fuel filter assembly as it appeared the flow was at least 50% less than the original Robin fuel filter I fitted. I found the rubber seal in the fuel tap partly blocking the fuel passag...
