If you can get an oil with good lubrication qualities wich is also combustable without producing smoke than 2 stoke will become widely accepted again. I guess it wil be quite simmular to a common rail dieselpump. I think that's the way to go. A high pressure pump and a piezo injector on a one-cilinder. That would get the performance up and over gasoline levels.
