When I saw your Post I thought you was posting this one.

This guy is local to me and I see it go over the house from time to time.
He keeps it at the Bridgeport Airport.

Re: Getting sidetracked from diesel bikes!

Scooters are fun. Specially the old ones we had as kids! I've been perusing Craigs list for a Used Lambretta like I rode to High School in the 60's. I rode the snot out of it and only put gas in it once a week. I'm thinking it got about 80 mpg. Sure was fun to ride wheelies on it. I'd pop up the fro...

Re: Rat bike for world talletst man?

Looks like a convertable car to me. It's got no roof and 4 wheels. I'm sure it's a project built as a novelity. I'd love to see him drive it fast and try to turn a corner on it. I'm thinking this is a more practical build for the Motorcycle Purist! Randy Grubbs Deco Pod Bikes! http://www.youtube.com...

Re: General CVT tuning test

Yes I've read through it but not memorized it because it deals more with tuning an existing system but nothing about how to create and assemble a working system from scratch. Wish it would go into the actual designing and engineering of a proper system. It does not address any issues for the builder...

Re: General CVT tuning test

So are you saying to start tapping the brake while holding the throttle wide open and slowing down the back wheel until the rpm's fall and the belt drop off? Wouldn't going from idle and increasing the r's until the belt engages give you the same information? I am trying to learn CV's so I'm no expe...

Re: Build Thread US Diesel Tiger

Okay then will do write ups as I go along and solve this puzzle. I may make mistakes, so be kind when you point them out. Although I've built a lot of custom machinery in my day, this is my first diesel motorcycle build from scratch. I did some improvements to David Sparks's diesel KLR conversion bu...

You haven't lost us Curtiss. Just sitting quietly with rapt attention. Excellent work on the alternator. As noted in an earlier posting, Kubota does make an adapter for this engine, but it's not cheap. https://www.dieselbikeforum.com/download/file.php?id=1422&mode=view https://www.dieselbikefor...

Alternator almost done. I want to build a brass insert in the engine tab for the bolt to ride on since the tab is aluminum. Re: Kubota Charging system from scratch

Just how many mud holes do you plan on riding this heavy thing through George? Remind me not to ride with you or we should bring some stronger guys with us. I suspect it will be sitting out in the rain more than it will be riding through mud puddles. Therefore, it is my recommendation that we leave ...

1st attempt.

Use to remote mount my race car oil filters all the time. It's the best way to get the filter out of harms way.

Re: Build Thread US Diesel Tiger

I'm assuming the flywheel will be to the left, placing the filter in its current location to the back of the engine and thus well protected. But not making for a particularly compact arrangement. Is this what you're referring to with respect to a remote filter? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...

Almost have the alternator ready to mount. Will post pictures when I get it done. Broke my special little sander I need to finish it. Looks like I'll be buying another little belt sander. No surprise, because I've abused this one for years.

Re: Kubota Charging system from scratch

Did a little research last night and there is room to slot the main alternator housing for the engines alternator tab to fit into. I'll let you know if it works.
