Medical outcome, it's not good news

The 14th of June last year "2011" seen a rather straight forward medical procedure go awfully wrong which has changed my life, and not for the better. It's extremely likely I'll soon be going into hospital for neurology and other stuff so I'll be quiet net wise for a while A lot of stuff h...

Re: L100 Engine Failure (fuel related)

Depending on what's gone wrong the fuel should make it out of the injector return line, it seems like you might have to take a serious look at what fuel filter you are running also. I cannot be of much help to you at the moment snoopy as you don't know what has really gone wrong also, hopefully it's...

Yes sounds like compression is good, like T.C.F said, it might need more investigation. They are a great little engine when they are going, but a pain in the ass when they aren't !!

Keep us posted

Re: L100 TDC

If you have the injector out I'd place something soft "plastic tube like lube spray tube" down the injector hole and keep the rocker cover off and see when the inlet and exhaust valve rock at an equal point that the piston is at TDC, that will be on the exhaust inlet cycle, if the engine i...

Re: L100 Engine Failure (fuel related)

Some of the microscopic holes in the tip of the injector may be blocked, it only takes particles of microns thickness to clog the injector, my advice take the injector to a specialist, or even try and pick a new one up, if it is a clogged injector tip put a finer particle filter on the bike. You wil...

Re: 25hp twin ...is this the good one or the bad one ?

Yes I heard the 25hp version were breaking cranks, unless they fixed the problem. I think to get the extra stroke to increase cc's they were making the big end journals smaller which was the weak link.

@ andrew, is 20K per head so much? No but aren't you asking if you should buy a head or complete engine, I've given you my oppinion! rupturing cylinder heads is a strange and uncommon problem. Yes I have not heard of it and don't have a clue why your having that problem the whole engine is well-main...

Hi nanbo, this is already the second head with rupture... Arnaud, you cannot have it both ways, either you replace the engine and hope it goes fine without cracking the head, which seems uncommon besides your case !! But I could be wrong. Or you just go out and purchase a new head "maybe compl...

Re: small rupture in head

With that many K's I'd seriously think about replacing it. But only my view.

The price of parts to fix and probably rebuild it would cost more then replacing it, at 66K parts are going to be worn and if not needing replacing, soon will be.

Your spot on oldbmw, it was made of stainless steel and included a swirl chamber and screwed into the piston.

Re: Engine Failure :(

You need to modify the top of the piston to run veg or it will gum up, so my gut feeling is yes the veg oil had a significant contribution to kill your engine by gumming up the rings as you said. Do a web search for modifying direct injected diesels to run veg oil, problem is the top of the piston d...

Sounds like a great idea, wonder if you need to use the synthetic stuff or if both mineral and synthetic go OK.
