Just guessing but such a thing is normally used in a closed cooling system, where the radiator cap doesn't have the common pressure pop-off lever. Instead as water heats and expands it overflows into expansion tank and remains there until engine cools and it can then contract and re-enter radiator cooling system.
There's advantages because pressurized water resists the tendency to boil. In essence, the coolant water can transfer a higher temperature exchange, allowing better cooling and also guaranteeing that water won't be lost in boiling away or evaporation.
In this particular case, because it was designed and built by our man Henk, it's also breath-taking gorgeous, a work of art, a-g-a-i-n!!!

Agree on work of art. So it's a ahhhhhhhhh.... billet overflow tank so to speak.
The Daihatsu is watercooled.
When water is going hot it expands. The vessel works as an resorvoir and the pressure escapes in the open air.
One of the top nozzle]s is open , the other is for escaping air bubbles into the air catched at the highest point.
The bottom nozzle is for filling the system.The bras inlet can be open or closed with a hexagonal bras screwcap.

The system is without any pressure. Why pressure the system? The hoses can leak when the pressure is to much.
pressurizing the system raises the boiling point of the water making the radiator more efficent

2 month's ago I injured my foot badly. I sprain my left foot and couldn't walk anymore. So very little activity employed.
Today I connected my clutchcable, it take a while because made some special pieces to fit the cable rigid. Next time I wil place a picture.
While I tried to uncouple, my gearbox moved for a few mm. That's bad news and a major setback.
Some bold's (behind the flywheel) aren't tightened. I almost vomit by the idea.
It means the gearbox, clutch and flywheel has to be removed to tighten those bolts.
I have to pluck up some courage and got to work on it.
