Re: Finally I can start! Aixam+CVT based build

HI Tristan Good choice of motor I’ve converted seven Honda superdreams using the z482 engine ,four using the Comet / Axiam CVT . You’re getting lots of good pointers and I'll add my money’s worth ! The CVTs I built I opted for gearing them for approx 65mph at max rpm . I used a toothed pulley rear d...

Re: For Sale Honda Kubota

Hi Your both right ! I was concerned with possible issues of pulsing using small engines with turbos . So you quite right about using the intercooler to increase the plenum chamber volume between the turbo and the inlet valves. In deed still at lower rpm the gauge needle tends to fluctuate wildly . ...

Re: Honda Kubota MK5

image.jpg image.jpg I spent some time playing with the design for the cover , 3mm expanded foam was strong and impact resistant but I couldn't get it to form any reasonable definition so I opted for thinner high impact polystyrene with a metal bracing frame underneath. Re: Honda Kubota MK5

I have the same fender clearance issue on my bike. I would imagine your Kubota is heavier than the original Honda lump. I built spacers out of pipe and stuck them in the fork tubes under the caps to preload the front suspension springs to compensate for the extra weight. It worked. My spacers are a...

Re: Honda Kubota MK5

Possibly it's slipping on the engine side when you put more power on it. The way it behaved when standing still and opening the throttle it didn't sound like it was putting on much load. Any change in power into the c.v.t. should result in a feel of power on the road. If that's not synchronised you...

Re: Honda Kubota MK5

Heavier fork springs and a less "boxy" mudguard?? The only other option might be to rework your exhaust in a similar design to your inlet manifold which would be a shame after the work you put in. With your CVT I would go back to standard to see if that helps. Possibly your changes have m...

Re: Honda Kubota MK5

So the weather was nasty but the excitement won the day and the MK 5 went for a very short test yesterday ! Re: Honda Kubota MK5

meez and ol Curtis been going round and round last two days via the net about side load on the crank bearing of the Kubota diesels. Basically there is NO end crank bearing. Just a bush and an oil seal. Thus for longevity in reality with these Kubota engines we should all be using a roller bearing s...

Re: Honda Kubota MK5

In addition I didn't want the shape of the belt run ie crank , alternator and pump triangle to dominate the looks of the engine . I do like the clean and uncluttered look you get on that end of your engine Tim. It's unfortunate if you have to bring back the water pump. My solution was to utilize 2 ...

Re: Secondary drive freewheel

Hi Yes I agree with your reasoning. The cvt in an overrun situation will try hold the engine at a constant rpm regardless of speed. If you encounter a very very steep hill it increase the speed of the bike but keep the engine rpm constant . On a slight hill the effect of the good engine braking will...

Re: Kubota Superdream Honda MK5 and MK4

So the maiden voyage of the turbo mk4 was interesting , the handling was appalling but I found front tyre pressure at 10 psi and the top yoke nuts were loose. The turbo makes a wonderful wheezing noise when it starts to spool up but I didn't push it very hard as there were lots of hot smells and sm...
