Sold Honda Kubota Superdream 800cc

Post by Tim »

Sold Diesel Honda Superdream 800cc Diesel Monster up for auction on the dreaded Ebay

800cc Kubota 3 cylinder cylinder diesel fitted in a Superdream frame.
Transmission via CVT ( from Axiam car ) and rear drive via 30mm wide toothed belt .
MOTed till May 2016 , paint is reasonably presentable for its age but not perfect. The build of this can be viewed on the Diesel bike forum under Honda Kubota MK5

Built in a quest to find the best engine combination for a diesel bike however my preference is for the 500 twin engine so it's now up for sale.
I have covered about 1000 miles on it since the build. It's a bit of a thug and should really be subject to an ASBO . It has proved to be quite reliable and outstanding fuel consumption in excess of 100 mpg if you drive it like a granny.
You don't get arm wrenching acceleration compared to current motorcycles but it's swift and does touring and commuting and exceptionally well and doesn't slow much for hills .
It does sounds really great. It is a bit like riding an old style british bike but doesn't leak oil and starts and you don't have to spend the weekend fixing it !
You will never be alone when your out on as it's always centre of conversation where ever you go!

The bike is for an enthusiastic type person and it wouldn't be a good choice if you not interested engineering and tinkering !

The 3 cylinder exhaust note is really raunchy and very satisfying .

The frame is stock with the addition of spring stiffeners to cope with the additional weight. It approx 18 kg heaver than a stock Superdream but is very manageable.

New battery and New starter-motor
Air horns
Reconditioned cylinder head , recut valve seats, new injectors , new valves .new heater plugs.
New CVT belt
New Coolant pump
Spare rear drive belt
Recovered seat
New radiator and cooling fans

Comes with supporting information for maintenance parts and places to sources spares

I have damaged the edge of the rear toothed belt as per the photo , I didn't check the alignment before testing more annoying than a problem. If I were to keeping it I would consider putting a thermostatic control on the cooling fans. It chuffs a bit of smoke when first started but runs clean once warm .
I am a fair weather biker however the exposed front of the cvt could be interesting in torrential rain .
No real engineering problems just a few odds and ends that could be improved or finished off ie only one ignition key, fan controller would be better if remounted . The cooling system doesn't bleed all the air out automatically which is annoying r . Mostly work of a fine tuning would enhance the bike.

I have a copy of the v5 as the original is currently being amended at DVLC for the change in fuel type and engine size.

if you don't enjoy tinkering this possibly isn't the bike for you
I was hoping for £1750. T 01963 350668
Thanks for looking

England is flooded with secondhand bikes from the states, it cant be that expensive to go the other way.

I am pestering him on ebay about the possibility of shipping it over. Just certainly adds to the expense.

Geeez all i want is for the auction to end for less money than he would like, then for him to drive the bike to a port for me lol :D he has been very good natured in his replies, barely told me to go jump off a cliff at all.
