Re: Hamm 2014 - 12th to 14th Sept
If you ever open up an Enfield box you will understand why it's so strong, the gears are huge. Last orders at the bar please gentlemen  I'll have a pint of what ever he's had :D The Albion HG gears are chunky, but not as chunky as the (American) Indian Albion (K?) gears. I almost made the mist...

Re: Hamm 2014 - 12th to 14th Sept
Ian, bad luck indeed. I have an Ultima box in the Tiger, they are available in 5 & 6 speed with either direct or overdrive top gear - gives you lots of options. If cash is tight remember the 4 speed Enfield box could handle the 700 Interceptor's torque output and you can fit a cush drive clutch...

Re: Hamm 2014 - 12th to 14th Sept
could the two be related? Were they Glass Mat Batteries or Lead Acid? Yes, the engine has too much compression, the starter motor needs more power than the battery can give on a compression stroke. The occasional bump start, and jump in to gear when kick starting couldn't of helped the gearbox, but...

Sweet! Even a goldwing doesn't have a kebab shop! Pretty nasty tough. So you joining or does the blown gearbox mean your out of a ride? Also, again?... Well the gearbox wasn't the first thing to go. Yet again the battery blew. Replacement Harley battery now 200 quid. This will be the fourth b...

Re: Hamm 2014 - 12th to 14th Sept
But your right about the deadline, why take the highway when there's fun roads to be ridden right? :D That's fine right up to the point when you turn your lights on and your battery turns in to a kebab shop. 23 hours it took me to get there. Dutch and German B roads are no fun when all you have is ...

low acid grease
Hi, I'm looking for some low acid grease to thicken up my EP90 gl4 gearbox oil.
It has to be low acid as I have bronze bushes on the lay shaft.
Any suggestions? Nice and cheep if possible.

Re: Fuel Consumption Figures
I think you have pinpointed the problem.
Bigger diameter pipes may be an advantage, specially if it is 2 into 1.
I know that a convoluted hose mixes the air around, but I'm not convinced to the benefits, as there are swirling vanes in Ruggerini cylinder heads.

Re: Fuel Consumption Figures
Your right about those fuel figures and revs, who would have thought they would have been so different as they are from the same stable (I guess I should have taken a look). I wish my engine's sweet spot was 3000rpm. Sounds like you have everything sussed out. My exhausts were chocking the engine an...

I have just taken a look at your engines fuel efficiency, it isn't good.
It's the exact same as the MD191 850cc and RD270 1205cc engines.

Re: Fuel Consumption Figures
The way I ride around here which is all highway at 100kmh or as close to that as I can get depending on the wind, had given me a low of 89mpg and a high of 92.5mpg over the last 1250km. This is with my 650cc ruggerini twin in a superdream. It seems a far cry from what most of you others are getting...

Re: What engine oil do you use?
I think the 30 or 40 after the weight (10w 15 w) has something to do with the heat thinning oil out, something to do with long chain polymers? I don't know I'm not an expert. 15w40 in the warm weather, yea, that's what I have used this time as I refuse to pay over the odds for 10w40 mineral. I'm onl...

Re: What engine oil do you use?
Yes I went to Halfords and they had only one (type and bottle of) 10w40 semi synthetic which is there own brand (I was looking for mineral), I also went to autocarparts no 10w40 on the shelves, the same at two other car accessory shops. It just struck me as odd that most oils are synthetic (which is...

What engine oil do you use?
Hi guys, I have always used 10w40 for diesels, but it's getting hard to find now (how odd), loads of shops stock 15w40 for diesels though. I was looking for 10w40 mineral for diesels but only found one, is mineral being fazed out for semi synthetic and full synthetic? So what engine oil do you use a...

Wanted Ruggerini rocker covers
I'm looking for Ruggerini rocker covers with decompression levers.
As used on RM270 but I'm sure they're used on many other engines.
Also I'm interested in a Complete RD270 engine or parts, what have you.
Cheers Ian

Speedo revs?
Hi Guys, does anyone know if these two speedos are the same?
1) 60mph=2000rpm
2) 60kph=1400rpm (or 37.2824mph=1400rpm).
Or what no' 2 rpm would be at 60mph?

Re: Lombardini 9LD - Urgent question
4 things: 1) Lombardini say no it will not rev to 3600 apparently it is a physical impossibility (so it probably can). 2) Conflicting information from Lombardini PDF docs (yes more conflicting info) one minute it's a 25 horse power another minute it's 28 horse power. 3) For anyone who reads all this...

28.5 horse power @3000rpm so at 3600rpm it has to be around 33 horse power. With a turbo that moves it up to around 4000 to 4200rpm and about 38 horse power. Well I got that wrong, dur  it's 25 horse power @3000rpm. If it will rev to 3600rpm it will only be 27 ish horse power, the key word is...

Re: Lombardini 9LD - Urgent question
Ian the engine does not have alloy cylinders, cast iron. It is basically just a bigger version of the ruggerini 950. With the issue of revs, the engines are used for powering hydraulics or gen sets. With gen sets you either want 50hrz or 60hrz depending which side of the pond you are on, but I am s...

Re: Lombardini 9LD - Urgent question
Finally got it, I used a different internet browser. Damn this info is for the 1120cc, I hope it is the same for the 1250cc. I have the workshop manual for the 1250cc but it only states it can run at 3200rpm. Maybe it's the same adjustment and they just don't want to let people know it can rev highe...
