Diesel Dnepr for sale.

See "general chat" for details. You can ride this away and take it to the rally this year! THIS BIKE IS NOW SOLD. I built the bike from a 1991 Dnepr MT11, which I dismantled, cut the frame in half and replaced the top rail with one that is 17 inches longer, made up a cradle to accept the P...

Re: The Big Knock 2014

How about a steam powered bike? Henk van der Waal, (Netherlands, of course) has painstakingly rebuilt at least one of the A W Field steam bikes, which were built privately in my home town of Clacton on Sea before the war. He has a website, so it should not be too difficult to contact him. I must str...

Dnepr with Petter engine.

At last, after many years, this bike has passed its MOT. I had offered it for sale but dogged with problems starting the engine, I decided to spend some cash and have the starter re-wound and to replace the damaged ring gear. Since then, I have abandoned car ownership, which means I shall need to us...

Diesel Dnepr for sale

Sorry, but I have come across a problem with the starter motor; it has the wrong pinion. It is still in
pieces on my bench awaiting delivery of a nine tooth pinion which is proving to be a long wait.
I will update if and when it turns up.(They are obsolete so it is being sourced from abroad.)

Re: 2 stroke diesel

Yes, I know of one. If you ever had Howard Rotovators in Canada, look for one with the Hirth two stroke diesel. They were once popular with allotment holders in Britain. The engine is a single cylinder two stroke diesel of about 500cc. Look it up on the net. (Howards sourced engines from several dif...

Dnepr NO LONGER FOR SALE

Dear all, I have relisted my Petter engined Dnepr on ebay. Although I have not been able to cure the starting problem, which is why I withdrew it last time, I have, at least, solved the mystery. All that is required is to drill and tap the two bosses that are cast into the INTAKE MANIFOLD to accept ...

Re: STORMCOAT'S DNEPR WITH PETTER ENGINE

Re: DIESEL DNEPR FOR SALE ON EBAY

I have to inform everyone that I am withdrawing my Dnepr for sale until I can put it into a better state of preparation. I realise that the fact that I have had no bids so far may have something to do with all the unfinished items I have listed, in particular the engine not starting. I have no wish ...

Re: Starter motor speed

Thank you for all your suggestions. I shall try some of these ideas. However, I have noticed that the exhaust is becoming very smoky after some minutes of running, so I shall need to investigate the condition on the bores and pistons at some time. A slight loss of compression may not make much diffe...

Re: Starter motor speed

Thanks, I had wondered about the gearing. I will check, if I can get the data. I have spun it with the decompressor open, as suggested in the workshop manual, but it does not make any difference. The starter will turn the engine over comfortably on full compression, providing that the battery is at ...

Starter motor speed

I have nearly finished the rewiring of my Petter powered Dnepr, but I am having a problem starting the engine. Once started, it runs smoothly and seems to have plenty of torque, however, it will only start if I connect up a jump lead to a car with the engine running at fast tickover and putting out ...

PETTER SINGLE CYLINDER DIESEL ON EBAY CHEAP

Dear members, I have put an advert on ebay for my Petter AC1 6hp single cylinder anti clock wise rotation engine. Suitability for bike use must be for the judgement of the bidder, but others have fitted them in the past (see Dieselbike archives). I cannot vouch for the condition of the engine, but s...

Re: Diesel Honda

The engine here is a Petter AC1, clockwise rotation, 304cc, 6bhp @ 3600rpm, with electric start. (Source: Lister Petter A range Workshop Manual). This is quite a heavy engine, but would render the bike no heavier than the standard machine with a passenger, I should guess. A lighter flywheel is avail...

Re: SmokeyJoes Steam Motorcycle..

Dear all, Steam bikes are not as unusual as some may think. Some years ago Mr A W Field, who lived around the corner from my best mate, in First Avenue, Clacton on Sea, Essex, built two steam powered motorcycles, both using a Triumph frame. The bikes still exist and at least one has been restored to...

My British powered Dnepr is on its way. I have successfully fitted the clutch to the flywheel and mated up the gearbox. DNEPR CONVERSION

Both Dnepr and Chang frames have insufficient space for most upright engines, and Ural has even less, so in most cases, the frame needs some alteration. V twins are more suitable, of course, but we are limited to Chinese engines. I sized up a three cylinder D662 Kubota to my frame, originally. It ne...

AC1 PETTER

You have two output shafts to choose from on your engine. The uppermost rotates at half engine speed, the lower, longer one is the shaft you want. You are fortunate to have the shaft present on your engine, as they can be very expensive to buy from Listers. Why not use both engines? The little Pette...

Lister and Kubota engines

I am sorry to have to tell you, but your AC1, pretty though it is, would only propel you in reverse!! It is a clockwise rotation version, so you would need to be ingenious to go forwards, I think, unless you can take the drive from the timing end, (which is possible, using a PTO extension shaft kit)...
