Dnepr with Petter engine.

At last, after many years, this bike has passed its MOT.
I had offered it for sale but dogged with problems starting the engine, I decided to spend some cash and have the starter re-wound and to replace the damaged ring gear.
Since then, I have abandoned car ownership, which means I shall need to use the bike for my own transport now.
I may be able to upload some earlier pictures I took of the clutch conversion I had machined up, for those who may find it useful. The dnepr clutch basket had its inner portion removed and some holes drilled to accept screws to attach it to the Petter flywheel, which, in turn, was machined out so that the clutch would fit within it.
I am fabricating a dummy tank from glass fibre which will fit over the engine and provide protection and sound proofing as well as housing the air filter. Fuel will have to go into a 2 gallon round tank to be attached, pannier fashion, at the rear.
The engine is very second hand but still gives enough power to reach somewhere close to 50mph. With a top end overhaul and some fresh head gaskets, it should be dependable. However, it starts instantly from cold now it has its new armature, so I am content at present.

Nice! Good job on getting it legal.

I'd like to see those earlier pictures of the clutch conversion as I am planning to do something similair. If you could upload them I'd be thankfull.
As for the fuel can, why not use an old style metal jerrycan and attach that pannier style? They hold 20 Liters.

Jerry can is great idea. 1/2 size German can would look SWEET. Have seen a 1.5gal Briggs and Strat rectangle lawn mower tank used and even that looked good couse it was between sidecar and bike. you can see it in the below video. Sounds small but heck that is 100+ miles of fuel and on them rattly things your going to want to get off and stretch out your butt before you hit 100miles anyway.

Thanks, the jerry can idea is actually the backup plan for my bike if the fuel tank idea doesn't work out. Alltough you'll need a one way air valve at the top so it doesn't create a vacuum.
