Re: The FrankenBrick Smart BMW build
The important parts such as the gearbox and final drive should be fine. The bell housing and engine mountings although the frame will need bending to accommodate the engine mountings in the same way that I did when I built it. The exhaust should be okay and the adapter to turn the turbo and manifold...

Re: The FrankenBrick Smart BMW build
It’s been a bit quiet on here for a while so I thought I would update you. I sold the bike about 4 years ago and it was bought by a guy who lives not that far away from me. Probably under an hour. He came to 1 of our bike meetings and he had removed the fairing from the front and was riding the bike...

I had decided that I was selling my Lombardini Tiger. For the other reasons than I simply don’t use it and it’s heavy. However I absolutely love it and I could look at it all day long because I think from an engineering point of view it really is a thing of beauty. I did list it on eBay about a week...

It depends whether it’s a JZR or a BRA.
I was BRA manufacturer otherwise it would be a case of getting hold of John Ziemba if he is still around

Re: How does single phase work?
Not an alternator charging light but I found one of these useful. Check out the other styles on their website The regulator is up to you but if you suspect the old one is faulty and you know you have an output from the alternator fitting a new one will give peace of mind. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/...

They call it 2 phase 4 wire regulator on here with diagram but if you scroll down there is also one described as 2 phase 4pin regulator with the pins marked if it's any help. https://www.lambertsbikes.co.uk/product-support/free-wiring-diagrams/regulator-rectifier/ Thank you. Has it got a flywheel generator from a ligier car like this or is it some sort of mod from a bike? Re: How does single phase work?
According to the manual it shouldn't have a regulator? Page 68/69 http://service.lombardinigroup.it/documents/Manuali%20Officina/English/1_5302_858_MO_1003%20Asia%20Motor.pdf Thanks for input That would be the case if it had a belt driven alternator which has its own internal regulator. However it ...

Can someone please explain to me how a single phase generator works? I know how three-phase and rectification works, what is confusing me are the 2 wires which do not appear to be live and earth but both live depending on what is connected to where. If I connect one of them to the regulator the othe...

Re: Diesel Dave's Tiger update.
The big question is do you prefer the Tiger or the K100? lol Difficult one. K is faster and smoother and more comfortable (engine is not so wide) but more complicated especially electronically. Gearing cant be changed. Looks old fashioned. Tiger is more "diesel" and much slower although I...

Diesel Dave's Tiger update.
I recently bought the Triumph Tiger from Diesel Dave. I must say, I am really pleased with it. I did have a problem with the gears, or so it seemed. They were all jammed up and wouldn’t change, or so it seemed. So out came the spanners and off came the whole of the primary side drive, clutch, drive ...

Re: The FrankenBrick Smart BMW build
Update June 2017 I have just returned from the Big Knock. Brilliant event. Thanks to all who arranged. Frankenbrick ran really well but started smoking tad when really hot. It is also blowing oil from the breather and my swirl catch pot is not sufficient to catch it all and return it to the crankcas...

Re: Merc Smart CDI Oil consumption and cambox breather.
Cambox breather on a Track T800CDI connects to a point just below the airfilter, all on the RH side of the bike. Tubing from there to the turbo and between turbo and engine are allways somewhat "oily" so i guess that a light mist will be present. No refill neccesary in 20.000 km so oil co...

Merc Smart CDI Oil consumption and cambox breather.
Hi. Does anyone know where the Cambox breather on the Smart motor goes to on an EvaTrak? What have the Tiger Smart guys done with the same? Mine has done 45k and it blows mist from the breather. I have been told that they all do that but I am not convinced. I have fitted an oil swirl separator thing...

Slightly off topic as not diesel related but I can highly recommend Nathan Millward's "The Long Ride Home" book. Very much a story that includes both his struggles with the personal side of the journey from Australia to the UK and - and what many of the other so called "biker journey...
