Hi Nibbler I've build a Changfa186 ( YanmarL100 clone ) in a MZ ETZ 251 Saxon Tour frame, using a comet 44 series torque converter bought from Duells in Finland. It runs very well, but holds only an avarage of 70 km/h. Fuel economy is around 43km/l. I use it quite often. Has now given me over 2000 k...

Hi there You can see pics on my website of this bike. It is the original MZ gearbox that is used. It is placed where the air filter used to be. Hi Riggo The variator is a lot cheaper, if you don't have a useable gearbox. For me it's also a matter of space. The variator doesn't require much of it compared to the conventional gearbox. I don't have any knowledge about the lifetime of belts/efficiency and so on....I guess I'll just try it BTW.....

Hi Riggo I recently bought a 186'er ChangFa from pump.co.uk with 1" shaft. I use a Comet variator bought from Duells in Sweden ( delivered from Finland actually ) Now I'm fitting it in a MZ ETZ251 Saxon Tour frame. I had to add 50 mm to the frame under the tank, to make space enough for the eng...
