Re: CX500 build.
Hello everyone. Well doesn't time fly. Still no further with the trike build, trying to work on it BUT it is being pushed down the list. It's been that long the original bike is now tax exempt, '79 V reg, but it would be nice if the plate from the Honda is able to be transferred onto the conversion....

Finally back on the site after a few months of being unable to log on.
Latest info is that I finally have a rolling chassis after a bit more welding. Engine still turns after all this time but still a long way to go.

Re: Electric assist - thoughts
Hi Alex. I thought that all new (2117) push bikes with electric assist had to have pedals to start off the motor as there is no longer a twist grip on the bike. My mates bike is the earlier kind that would start from rest on the motor or he could pedal it away first then use the twist grip as normal...

Re: GTL Diesel (Gas to liquid)
Hi Bert. Here in the UK we have Shell V-Power which is probably the same stuff. I normally use Supermarket fuel (cheap) (ish). The diesel guy who works near me recommends using the better fuel at least once every couple of months. Or do not use the cheaper stuff at all. His reason being that modern ...

Re: California Emissions
Having read a bit of the DMV site (CA). I'm amazed that any vehicle can be put on the road. Even 50cc engines have to have a 50 state certification. There will be a legal, if slightly iffy, way of getting a diesel bike even a 49 state vehicle could be registered (a good read of the pages is required...

Re: California Emissions
Just done a bit of web surfing. The smog test may or may not apply in your case but according to the web if the engine you intend to use is "as manufactured" then any fitted smog control items must be used. If the engine does not have any then it can still be used and should get a title/li...

Not much news on the Bantam. The ebay listing was pulled due to an error. It doesn't appear to have been relisted either. The seller lives a stones throw from where I used to live and I have sent him a message via his other ebay listing asking for information. A friend of mine did see it pootling ar...

Re: CX500 build.
Hi Mike. The Aixam is classed as a quadricycle in France where it is made. The body chassis is an aluminium roll cage with an engine and rear sub frame added. The body panels are plastic and not fibreglass the interior dashboard is even thinner plastic. The brakes are slighty better than mountain bi...

Hi Mike. Welcome to the forum. My CX build (if it ever gets finished) is not the only one that appears on this site. The other build is a two wheeler but I did not source a small enough CVT to carry on down that route and I have not been able to contact the builder. I was given the bike, as you can ...

Re: CX500 build.
Build has stagnated. Work has got in the way and I have recently moved to Sunny Southport. The only thing accomplished is the machining of a spindle to fit where the swinging arm locates. This will be the front support for the engine framework, two pieces of box section to be welded onto the spindle...

Re: The FrankenBrick Smart BMW build
Shouldn't there at least a couple of holes in the baffle plate to allow oil to pass through? From the pictures it doesn't look like there are any big enough gaps for the oil to pass from one side to the other when the engine is running normally.

Re: Disibility mods for bike
It may be possible to mod the centre stand to function like a side stand. It involves cutting the stand feet off so that it will be fully down when both wheels are on the ground allowing for the addition of a new foot on either leg that is wider than the original. Most centre stands "lock"...
