Thanks Ron. Good to know. I would never had figured that out.

governed Kutobta D722 deal killer?
I found a Kubota D722 for pretty cheap. It was in an Onan 7.5kw generator out of a motorhome. I mentioned what I want to do to the seller and he said it's not a good motor for that because it's governed. I know this is probably Diesel Bike 101, but don't all these swaps have to overcome a governor? ...

Re: Introducing the Gluppity Glup, Turbo Diesel Hybrid Electric.
Brent, Love the ingenuity. I just spent a couple hours looking at all the contraptions you've built and I'm so impressed. Your website, YouTube, and here. I've seen your Diesel 240Z on Craigslist for a while, and the Gluppity Glup, and never knew they were from the same guy. You've also built scoote...

Re: diesel Boss Hoss on US eBay
Looks like it sold for $12,000
[edit: looks like it's relisted Starting at $10k. Must have been a fake bid]
So who makes a 4.3l V6 turbo diesel in the states?

Re: 1990 Yamaha Diesel
Cool bike. Started at $1200 4 individual bidders, 10 bids, and it stopped at $2,025 with the reserve not met. I think that's encouraging as in the price point. The Seller should have used more pictures and description. I think they allow 12 pics for free? And any buyer will want to know what kind of...

Tappy, coachgeo wrote: this sounds interesting and deserves its own thread. Please do start a thread on this concept of yours. Would be a great conversation
If you do start a thread on this, or there's an existing place on the web that explains more about your project, I'd love to see it.

Re: Longitudinal inline 2-3cyl to shaft drive concept
I obviously need to learn more about CVTs. And I'm totally open to different ideas. I just have it stuck in my head that gears would be ideal. I might get to a point that the CVT just makes too much sense. Right now my perception of them is that they're great for scooters, and for some reason not go...

Re: Longitudinal inline 2-3cyl to shaft drive concept
Yes, brainstorming indeed. Just to make something clear: The 34hp Briggs/Vanguard/Diahatsu engine ($4,900) and the chrome Baker 6 speed ($6,000) were only used because it's pretty hard to find good images of parts in the right orientation. My project would consist of whatever I could find on Craigsl...

Re: Longitudinal inline 2-3cyl to shaft drive concept
I would just use the clutch systems that Harley types use. That's where the clutch goes on all of them.... I think. I'm not a harley specialist. That video that DieselFly posted is exatly the same CX500 that I think you're talking about. Very cool. CVT trannys are very cool too. I'm very much open t...

Re: Longitudinal inline 2-3cyl to shaft drive concept
I just realized that the space under the seat on a GL1200 is used by the gas tank. Might not be enough room there.

Longitudinal inline 2-3cyl to shaft drive concept
First post here, so bear with me. So I'm trying to do my math and research before I dive into a diesel repower. I have a blank slate, and I want to do it (mostly) right the first time. I really like the BMW/Moto Guzzi type bikes with in-line 3 cyl 800-1,000cc diesel motors. It just seems to me that ...

JoggerFogger = Kevin in Portland, OR, USA
My old diesel truck would beltch out black smoke going up the hill to my house. There would frequently be joggers out and they would be the victims of my diesel dust, and my friends dubbed my truck the JoggerFogger. My current truck runs clean clean clean, but the nickname sticks. I'm secretly hopin...
