Probably the torque along with the sliding/drifting.
I've seen this on trucks. It's twisting as you are winding it up it's not bending.

Diesel disaster 
Well the bike has been going well I have had a little technical hitch. Filled her up and the next day I was greeted with a lovely rainbow. Remember the noise issue my solution may have caused me another problem. I have got a steady drip. I am in the process of draining it out to see what the damage is and when I find the hole I will have to come up with a solution.
