Im thinking of puting a 1200 vw polo engine in a bike but not sure how to marry up gear box any sugestions would be helpful thanks

Since it is FWD, the easiest method would be to retain the gearbox and mate it to a shaft drive bike frame.

You need approx 1:1 ratio for that bevel drive and sadly this rules out using one from a bike as they are all approx 1:3 ratio reduction.

If you use a gearbox + transmission from say a BMW R series or Motoguzzi then your diesel engine wont rev high enough to get a usable speed / RPM for the power of the engine you are considering. However I believe there were was a batch of taller ration BMW bevel drives made recently to allow this but I'm not sure about the general availability of them or the exact ratio they were made to.
