MD191 850cc Ruggerini still lives!
Had a correspondance with Lombardini just today & was hearted to learn that the old Ruggerini MD191 I have in the Enfield lives on

An earlier version of that 702 engine is in the German Modite BMW based machine.

They don't seem to have it on their website. No search option on their site either. I wonder what the price tag is.

I'm betting it's because they are available with the automotive regulator and it's the biggest twin.
I like the 25LD 330-2, smaller pistons than the 425 so will vibrate less, air cooled for simplicity. Add a turbo/intercooler and your golden.

Reckon you are right there Dave. The Modite bike appears to have no alternator (it would clash with the BMW frame I think). But after asking about this in Hamm the other year I was told it's an option to buy a flywheel with an internal setup.
But to stay on topic, the MD191 had been used by several builders including Reinhard who used it for a small series of bikes. It is well tried, produces about 19hp and has the all important 180 crank for less vibes. Now if it's revs could be increased some.....

It's basically the 2 cylinder version of the Tiger's 1000cc triple.
There are 2 flywheel alternators available either a 3 phase or the 20 amp single phase one that the Tiger has.

At least the older MD151 was available in different versions, without external filter, and/or oil cooler. I have just shot a MD151 from ebay, that I hope to build into the Enfield frame currently running an Yanmar L100 This one is without external oil filter, no oil cooler and has an electric fuel pump. It should leave more space to reuse the original Taurus inner primary chain case.
The extra good story is, that the original Taurus inner primary chain case just fit to the MD151 flange, it is likely the same used on the Lombardini 325 Taurus in India back in the 90ties.
