Re: influencing CVT ratios

I've been thinking about using a skateboard wheel to force the primary c.v.t. to neutral when idling on the Track. Allowing for much heavier weights.

This is very interesting!

Track electronics explanation

Thanks to the 2024 Big Knock and the super help of all those knowledgable men (and a questionable stare here and there). I dove into the strange antics of the Track with it's relays and the electrical diagram. I have discovered the problem on the second version of the diagram. Worked out the working...

Re: EXTracktion progress

It's been a while. We found @ the Big Knock that the glow plug relay is causing havoc on the throttle circuit. Leaving it out solves the problems for now. I'm converting the glow plug circuit to work with a push button without start button connection. In analysing the old glow plug relais i discover...

Re: My Track T-800cdi (Bert's!) 3,2

Sort of. It's been running well for a while and then i really wanted to sort the cooling system. Originally it's got a 34mm connector on the engine inlet. Which is way too big compared to the rest. And i had this idea of cutting down on radiator surface and adding an intercooler. So it's back in the...

Re: My Track T-800cdi (Bert's!) 3,2

Another update: Fuel leak is fine now. Using the old gasket and sillicone sealant. And the c.v.t. is now working much better, thanks to the wider belt using the whole c.v.t. range the weights need to work in the first half cm as well. So the plastic cup needed to be worn in on that part as this was ...

Re: EXTracktion progress

Well with the wider belt and the 3.2 ratio the Track is riding much better now. Things to confirm: Tank is no longer leaking. I've reverted back to the gasket on top with silicone sealant. We'll see what it does. Things to mod: Move back to generator on the crankshaft, Revert to electric water pump...

Re: GTL Diesel (Gas to liquid)

I'm cancelling all tests with GTL after the gasket on the tank failed and i heared results from a rental company that started using GTL in their small lift equipment.

They're getting too many repairs in on the small diesels using GTL.

Re: My Track T-800cdi (Bert's!) 3,2

Another update: Seems that the wider belt is definatly better. It's more efficient. And has more grip. Atleast that is what it feels like.

But now my fuel pump has started leaking. Probably because i've filled up with GTL diesel. So i need to remake a gasket.

More news later!

Re: GTL Diesel (Gas to liquid)

I have recently had to refuel the Track. And i put another load of GTL in it. So those last movies are basically 100% of that stuff. Doesn't smoke at all even when starting cold. Maybe it's a little less power (should be considering fuel energy numbers) but i can't use all the power it's got anyway.

Re: My Track T-800cdi (Bert's!) 3,2

But isn't that just a way to lubricate the chain? :) It's good to be doing something on it again. I've futher deduced by looking at things that it would help the secondairy c.v.t.'s function to go with a wider belt. Because it will keep the little wheel in the slot. So no more, or less slapping arou...

Re: My Track T-800cdi (Bert's!) 3,2

Time for an update. So i've gotten back the old cardan in parts. It's been modified by that first company too much to be put to use. I did buy a K100 cardan with shorter ratio inside but would have to adjust the rear joint piece to be able to fit the 4 hole connection (BMW cruiser has 6 holes). So i...

If the belt doesn't sit on the axle of the primary c.v.t. then it may be too long, or the primairy sheaves may not open enough.

Re: Super capacitor Starter Booster

On my normal fuel bikes i've put a capacitor across the battery. As large as i can fit somewhere on the bike with thick wires. Theory behind it is that when the rpm is low the capacitor assists the battery in the low voltage region (low rpm) when the ignition coil draws amps. But in practise i've al...

Re: My Track T-800cdi (Bert's!) 3,2

Because it smells, it shakes, makes a lot of noise, does not transfer it's power well to the road thanks to the c.v.t. which will go as well. I would accept the 3 first ones if the other would be good. So with electric i can have a direct drive. No more loss of power in the driveline. And the frame ...

Re: My Track T-800cdi (Bert's!) 3,2

He tried to fit a K100 cardan on the joint part. But that would have been too much work, basically having a new joint made between the arm and cardan. So i'm cancelling the cardan upgrade. The original cardan will be put together again as it was originally, and i'll ride it till it breaks something ...

GTL Diesel (Gas to liquid)

For a short while now we've been able to buy the GTL variant of diesel fuel at a local fuel station. So i ran the Skoda empty and filled it up full with GTL to have a go at it. I want to get rid of the price argument to begin with. It's more expensive yes, but it won't stop me experimenting. My moti...

Re: My Track T-800cdi (Bert's!) 3,2

The cardan is coming back again soon. New gears and adapted housing on the inside to fit the right gears inside. Should be alright then. This has been cancelled because it's impossible to get a good fit in the cruiser housing despite everything. They've given it their best. Worked the housing a lot,...

Re: The FrankenBrick Smart BMW build

Originally it's blanked off.

I have it running a small line to a temperature measurement for the dashboard.

But the nicest way to cap it off is fill it with epoxy together with a temperature pickup for the dash. (if you can't read the temperature through the ecu to dash.

Brought the cardan (final drive) to a specialist. He opened it and noticed it's sharpening it's teeth. Consistent with what i felt/heard.

He is getting it sorted out and then it's riding time.
