Re: Dnepr, Ural frame engine fit
Engine in line with the frame to fit on the gearbox i assume.
It depends size of the engine, 2 cyl Hatz don't fit without stretch the frame.
Punsun 2 cyl V-shape wil probably fit.

Re: Building a bike with an DM950TD
2 month's ago I injured my foot badly. I sprain my left foot and couldn't walk anymore. So very little activity employed. Today I connected my clutchcable, it take a while because made some special pieces to fit the cable rigid. Next time I wil place a picture. While I tried to uncouple, my gearbox ...

Re: ural/dnepr diesel conversion kits?
I don't have any experience with the company, I think there isn't a standart conversionkit. The frame has to be elonguated bij aprox 20cm. You have to cut some pieces and weld in other pieces to get it right. The adaptor for the gearbox on the engine is a machined piece . This is not so easy to make...

I cal it an expansionvessel, but it is the same as an overflow tank.coachgeo wrote:Why that system over a typical pressurized coolant system with an overflow tank?
The system is without any pressure. Why pressure the system? The hoses can leak when the pressure is to much.

Re: Building a bike with an DM950TD
The Daihatsu is watercooled. When water is going hot it expands. The vessel works as an resorvoir and the pressure escapes in the open air. One of the top nozzle]s is open , the other is for escaping air bubbles into the air catched at the highest point. The bottom nozzle is for filling the system.T...

Re: Building a bike with an DM950TD
Wiring is completed.
Watercooling is in progress.
Hard to find the right rubberhoses for the cooling.
I cut the rubber hoses out the enginecompartiment of some car's , the cars wil be shredded anyway.
Make some aluminium couplers and connect the hoses together.
Looking for an expansionvessel.

I am wiring the bike.
I have no pict. because electric wire's aren't that interesting.
I have to connect many thing's with an extra relays, the standart BMW shalters are to weak for the current of some part's.

Re: Punsun crank failure theory
It seems to me as a fatigue failure. It started at the drilled hole. It doesn't need a heavy force, only an force with an alternating direction wil do the job.
Just a tiny deficiency wil start the proces.

Re: What is your dream bike? USA company needs your input
There isn't any movement by Elsbet for a couple of years. The concept of vegoil was new years ago but overhauled also years ago. The cast iron pistonhead looks a novelty, I have never seen it before. I think it is never produced because there are many problems to solve using a divided piston, top ir...

For years it was a BMW injection, model not important. But it was a total disappointment having an R1100R. It wasn't developed completely. Many annoying things and even so many (bad) excuses from the dealer. My dreambike is max. 50 Hp, don/t need more. Very easy to maintain. No need for periodic rep...

Re: sneak peak at the new diesel bike build
Push up the rpm is possible but limited. The engine starts using much more fuel compare the power delivery. Small dieselengines best torque is about 1800-2200 rpm for some reason. So you have to put your energie in gearboxes and/or bigger chainwheels. You are showing a nice dieselengine to us. I was...

Re: 25hp twin ...is this the good one or the bad one ?
Nice engine, probably Chinees.
Enough power for a dieselbike.
There are 2 versions. Aircooles and watercooled engines.
The aircooled engines are noisy and not so good compare the watercooled engine's.
But I am not an expert, It's what I picket up .

Re: Punsun Dnepr build with questions
Very good project. I to have used (partly) a Dnepr-frame , the rear. But building a total fifferent bike. I see you have cut the backside of a Dneprengine to fit the gearbox on the Punsun. That's a clever idea. The Punsung engine max rpm is about 3600, so take the highest gearing you can find. I am ...

Re: Building a bike with an DM950TD
I have (some time ago) dismantle the gearbox completely and build it together with new bearings and a 1:1 4the gear.
To get it right I bought a defect gearbox and cut it in half.See pict.
So I got the distance's of the gears right when fitted in the half cut gearbox. It's russian so nothing is sure.

Re: Building a bike with an DM950TD
The lugs on the aluminium frontfork are to weak for a steel mudguard to my opinion. I use the fork of a BMW K100. It consists of 2 front legs each apart and connected in the crownplate. I suspect these came from a type with integrated mudguard instead of a mudgard mounted on the frontfork. I have an...

Yes, is was a solid disk alumnium. I bought it in Germany (internet) and they shipped it to my home. Lucky we have a big lathe at the maintanance department. Re: Building a bike with an DM950TD
Fitting the engine in the frame. Every step is a lot of work. I blasted the frame with glass and painted with 2pack industrial primer, after the primer I painted theframe with black 2pack polyurethane topcoat. The topcoat is only for spraying. But painting with a brush is possible but not so smooth....
