CVT info for newbie

Hello, I have been trying to google some information on cvt transmissions and how they work. I could only find applications for electric cars. I wanted to find out how they shift and at what torque range for diesels? Also, are most people custom building their cvt's for their bikes or ordering prema...

Re: Cleaning diesel fuel, urea/methanol injection

If I run the lp all the time. Would it burn a hole in my pocket or is it economically viable?. How many miles do you see out of that tank and how much does it generally cost you?

Re: On Biodiesel and other alternative fuel for diesel engine

If oil from algae goes into production maybe biodiesel can save the world. I believe at the moment the highest yield of oil per acre is palm kernel. You can get 600 gallons an acre from palm kernel but it can only be grown in select environments. I believe sunflowers only give you about 100 gallons ...

Cleaning diesel fuel, urea/methanol injection

Hello, I had a question if there was a way to reduce smoke and pollution in a small twin diesel. I was wondering if the concept of urea injection would work and what part of the engine would it be injected in. I have heard of methanol injection but I know only of hp and torque increases as well as l...

Re: Chang jiang 750 solo

I've been looking on craigslist and found some sidecar models but non that are solo. I'm not sure if they just detach the sidecar for the solo models. I doubt it though because the solo's have motorcycle angled tires where the sidecar models have flat tires because they do not lean. If the tires are...

Re: Chang jiang 750 solo

Hello, There is a seller on ebay who says he can ship without engine and tranny. There are plenty of other reputable companies I have found that act as brokers as well for customs. I figured it would be easier if you were getting it without engine and transmission for customs reasons but most of the...

Chang jiang 750 solo

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience in the CJ 750 solo. I was going to import one from china without a motor to put the diesel in. The only problem I see is that it has a rear drum brake and I'm not sure if it can be changed. I like the military retro look and was not able to find any o...

Re: How about this engine?

What about methanol/water injection. Would it be cheaper to buy an air cooled and hook up one of the water injection kits?

Re: How about this engine?

So the consensus is that all these Chinese engines suck? or is this hearsay? It is true, that you get what you pay for but I know that Chinese electronics have come a long way so I'm wondering if their engines have gotten better. Sure do have a great price. I like the idea of the dnepr or ural. I've...

Re: How about this engine?

I'm gonna do some more research but the price seems reasonable. I still can't make up my mind on the frame yet. Definitely like the vintage look so I've been searching ebay for military bikes. Found these chang jiang bikes that look pretty cool. So maybe this will be the engine that will go in it.

How about this engine?

Hey guys I was wondering what you think about this engine. Haven't contacted the company for price yet but was doing some google searches and came across this. Company claims it is fairly clean with good mpg and multiple operational use.

Re: First Diesel bike Build?

Thanks Phil, I think at this point the enfield conversion will probably be the most affordable. I found some later model enfields for less than 2 g's. I think this is a fairly standard conversion so I'll stick with this one for the experience. Any idea where I can purchase a cvt transmission to go a...

Re: First Diesel bike Build?

I think my main reason for the bobber kit was to get an education on putting a bike together. I was hoping to start on something affordable and fairly simple before I move on to something I can fabricate and produce myself. Is there a frame or kit you recommend for beginners as wells as an engine th...

First Diesel bike Build?

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum from the states. I would like to plan on building a diesel bike but do not know where to begin. I have been monitoring this website and reading some threads about conversions. I would like to start with something simple and move on to buying a frame and front end. I w...
