ruggerini year of production /starters

Hello, I am trying to figure out the year of production of a ruggerini RD211.

I am looking at starters for a RD211 and found a place that carries starters for 96-99 RD211's.

Wanted to check the production year of my motor.

Sphere I like your tag. I am dreaming of 80mph cruise with a 28hp ruggerini. (which is now only 23hp but I am trying to work out how to turbo it) in a BMW R75 frame

Ih8suvs--The site with the Wolf also has sidecar bikes for sale. I see them on ebay every now and again. I know a guy who purchased one of the overseas URAL sidecar knockoffs. I did not think it looked bad and he has not had any problems with it. Not a fine piece of workmanship but, functional and a...

New bike URAL

This could just be a new to me bike but check out the Wolf by URAL http://www.imz-ural.com/wolf/ Why I post it here is if you remember, I believe it was LocomotiveBreath who ran about on one of the sidecar URAL's with a Hatz2g40 and I think he might even still have an adapter plate lying about if he...

quick hit

Desert sand, the electric bike is not in production right now, those who are working on the project are first going for a car. here is how it was explained to me: Generally, you don't use that much energy to maintain a bike's speed in cruise mode. It's only when accelerating that you take a big ener...

bio

Bio diesel is popular with the underground here in America. A little too popular for my taste. Biodiesel is not going to save the world. I like it because it is cheaper than gas or regular diesel. But it stops being cheaper when you can't get the used fryer grease for free. Since biodiesel has becom...

Thanks again.

turbo diesel

Thank you for the reply. I am still not convinced that a turbo charger would work better than a supercharger, but since Avery has demostrated superior knowledge on this subject I am going to revisit turbos. When looking at turbo's, is it possible to use a turbo taken off a gasoline engine to use on ...

Posting and trying to work makes for some choppy entires. Sorry about that. More on the Eaton M45 from the eaton site. The "inlet" cfm is 100cfm at 4000 rpm (the minimum listed) and 300cfm at 14000 rpm(the maximum listed)both at 5 psi. There are figures listed to run the charger at 10psi b...

Back on track

Good day, I went down the computer controlled turbo for a while and found it to be a more advanced then I care to tackle at this moment. So I am back to a supercharger. Looking at the smallest common eaton supercharger (M45) and taking into account it could rob up to 20% of the HP from the RD211 at ...

More good information

Thanks again for the replies. Avery is correct I was hoping to run the blower continuous, not because I think the RD211 is greatly underpowered (I am not a throttle jockey) but because that is the easiest way to set one up. I have a friend who works on VW diesels and had a thought try and adapt the ...

performance

I have the performance charts for this blower but I do not know how to post pictures. The sheets are jpg's I understand what you are saying about power/efficiency but I thought if an engine works more efficiently then it is possilbe to get both better mpg and a bit more power. I was hoping for a 20%...

Thank you gentlemen

Thank you for the replies. The blower is an industrial roots lobe blower. It is hard to believe it is too small to do the job. It weighs 24lbs. The RD211 is 954cc so the given caluclations are prettty on. I thought the small fan blowers/turbochargers are not as good because they are just fan, smf do...

good intel

Thank you for the information.
I do not know whether I have the 180 or the 360 on the ruggerini. Sadly, I did not know there were two kinds. It has the "normal" one if that makes any sense. A running ruggerini RD211 sounds similar to a harley. This is the first diesel engine I have owned.

They fire one at a time. There was a company called Centarus who used a ruggerini engine on their bikes and they had a audio clip on their website.

Thank you

Thanks for the reply Avery, Still confused over the whole thing a bit. I have not purchased the blower in question, but can obtain it relatively cheap. That is why I have much interest in this particular blower. The RD211 is a two cylinder diesel engine if that changes anything. If I understand your...

In need of Diesel supercharger/blower assistance

Good day, I started a some talk of this on Locomotivebreath's great Honda/ruggerini thread but I do not want to hjack and so started this thread. My goal is to take a RD211 (23 hp at 3600 rpm) and create a 28-30 hp at 3500 rpm. (with slightly better efficiency) The blower I am considering has a max ...

good information

Thank you for the response. In my (limited) understanding, a supercharger would work better than a turbo because of the spooling up of the turbo and the low rpms of a diesel. That sentence is a little choppy but I did not want to type it all out. There claim to be some electric turbos out there, but...

Wow, I didn't even know they made superchargers that tiny. I wonder if they would work too good? There is an article about a fellow that attempted to supercharge his Hatz and kept blowing it up. There is a college professor who worked on a grant to supercharge Hatz 2g30's for the military. I contact...

good points

Those are good points you raise about the URAI-22. There is a smaller URAI blower that can be found but parts for it are no longer made.

It was my hope to gain a slight increase in overall efficiency and an performance increase of about 20-25%. Bring the max hp to 28

Do you have any ideas?

Thank you for the response. I appreciate the information. What are you feelings on a small displacement roots lobe blower for...

I have been following your diesel exploits with envy for years. You squared me away about Dnephrs when you had yours running around and now you have a bike built with a Ruggerini RD211! I have an RD211 that I am attempting to put into a motorcycle. Did you rebuild yours? Since I am doing this from t...

I have only experience with the Ruggerini 211 because that is the one I ended up getting for my project.
