Re: Direct belt drive
Well, I just need to mount my motor into my frame and I can get started with my "transmission". My bike should be moving within a month.

Direct belt drive
I've been toying around quite a bit with minibikes, and farm equipment. I find myself constantly amazed by belt tensioner clutch drives. Has anyone tried a dual belt system tied into a jackshaft? I'm going to be trying it regardless, it's incredibly simple, and adaptable. It might even be slightly d...

Re: Official "kuzuki" build
I would be totally game. I'm gonna see about getting something together if I can't find anything. This little project has a bunch of people around me looking for motors of their own.

Re: Official "kuzuki" build
I finally got the motor resting in the frame. It seems to fit well, but slightly tight.
The cvt should work.....I've not seen it done this way, so we should see how this pulley works on top of the "drive" clutch.

Re: Driving a series 40 clutch.
I don't have much of a choice but to use a v-belt. I'm now wondering if I can put a pulley on top of the drive pulley. I may also need to use a mower deck spindle off an old Massey for the "jack shaft".

I don't be able to afford that. I'm building this on a tight budget.

Re: Official "kuzuki" build
Turns out I can't use the integrated radiator. So, I removed it and found a nice plate of aluminum. I aim to add a thermostat, on the outlet, and just a simple coolant barb for the inlet. I can even use a 12v. Coolant pump from a prius. Without coolant manifold IMG952018050595000123782.jpg New manif...

Driving a series 40 clutch.
So, I've been wrestling with how to get my cvt out of the way. That way I can save space. For now, I have a comet #40 torque converter with the housing and all. My thought was to fasten the whole assembly to the rear of the frame then have a jack shaft for the driven pulley. I could then run a belt ...

Re: Official "kuzuki" build
Well, I still have some math to figure out, but the frame is now bare. But as it looks, I won't even have to remove the radiator. It's almost as if the two were ment for each other.

Flywheel to keyed shaft adapter
I'm looking to make a shaft that bolts onto the flywheel of a Kubota engine. Has anyone had any luck here? I'm thinking of loading a 1inch shaft and a plate into a lathe and friction weld the two together. It sounds good on paper, but I've never done anything like that.
Thoughts??

Official "kuzuki" build
Well, the time has come. I have everything I need to build my bike. I will be using a 1972 suzuki gt750 "waterbuffulo" or "tea pot" ($250.00). It came with another bike so I'm not worried about harming a classic. My motor is a kubota zb600c-1 ($20.00), out of a wood chipper I thi...

Re: Detroit diesel 3-53
We have a saying in the diesel industry about Detroit's. "If it ain't leaking, it ain't working right." I figured I would need to build my own frame. I've been looking at frame jigs and tube benders. I have ideas, I just need to make them reality. First I have to get the dam motor out of t...

Detroit diesel 3-53
Has anyone been crazy enough to attempt a Detroit diesel conversion? I have an old 3cyl 2 stroke with a supercharger. The motor itself weighs about as much as a naked goldwing, so I figure it should be alright there. They sit at 33in high, 27in wide, and 40in long. Running, they produce 101hp with 2...

Re: Kubota zb-600c-1 fuel problems
This problem is solved..
The fuel rack was stuck. A little p.b. blaster and 30 min, and some EXTREAMLY GENTLE leverage, it slowly began moving. Now it slides by finger, and it runs, albeit with leaking injectors.
*miscatigorized could an admin move this to the fuel section?

Re: Crankcase to transmission conversion.
I've seen a couple people weld a sprocket to the clutch cage. I've also seen others that run off the stator, because they didn't cut the crank case. They just removed the cylinder and piston and capped the holes.

Crankcase to transmission conversion.
I just got my kubota zb600 running, so now I need to figure out a gearbox. On my budget, my best option is an old dirt bike/motorcycle crank case. So, I have a 13hp@3200rpm engine, and an old honda 2 stroke 50cc engine. Would that be too small for my motor? Furthurmore if it is ok, would it be ok to...

Kubota zb-600c-1 fuel problems
New member here.... I picked this motor up at the scrap yard for $20. My guess the p.o. ran it out of fuel and gave up trying to bleed it. A few injector lines were cracked for bleeding. So, after bleeding the system the dam thing started. Then it ran away at wide open throttle. The throttle was unr...
