Re: Finally I can start! Aixam+CVT based build
Been a while since I gave an update but with very good reason. So... That false dipstick reading... Basically the following day from my last update I fired it up to warm it up prior to draining the oil in preparation of a service, about 5 minutes of it ticking over it started knocking like a really ...

Also.....
This is the pulley set I have bought from them new - if your pulleys part numbers match these part numbers then you can use any one of the belts mentioned in the drawing depending on your C/C distance.

Re: Aixam Diesel belt thickness
Hi Alex, Got your PM but thought I'd post my reply on here to benefit all. Turns out my original pulley set was incorrect for the vehicle it was fitted too but CVTech sent me this e-mail which I'm sure will help you, You can confirm this belt is correct for your pulleys buy the pulley part numbers i...

Re: Finally I can start! Aixam+CVT based build
Hot off the CVTech press  I was surprised that the pulley faces don't actually appear to be either machined, ground or lapped from new, albeit the casting is very high quality and they have been dynamically balanced, I can only assume they do this so the belt beds its own surface after all the ...

Re: Finally I can start! Aixam+CVT based build
OK quick update, (maybe not so quick) While talking to a lovely lady called Xavier at CVTech Europe I have discovered that the MORON who had the car before me had replaced the driven pulley with one from another vehicle (Ligier or Microcar, maybe petrol model of Aixam) not only this but he was using...

Re: Final Drive Solutions for CVTech - 6.9:1 Reduction Needed!!!
To calculate the circumference of our wheels I just did: width x aspect ratio % x 2 + rim diameter x Pi I really need to buy my donor bike and measure the actual rolling circumference with some chalk lines and tape measure or use a tailors tape and wrap it round the wheel to give me a true measureme...

Re: Final Drive Solutions for CVTech - 6.9:1 Reduction Needed!!!
Hi Alex, I have read your post previously regarding the bushings and it seems a very novel solution 8) similar to the restrictor rings used on mopeds/scooters CVT's. Out of curiosity why put a restrictor ring in the driven pulley too? As the Driver is the one that controls the transition of the rear...

Re: Final Drive Solutions for CVTech - 6.9:1 Reduction Needed!!!
Hi Ron,
Thanks for your input however I think you have misinterpreted what I need to do,
If I dialled up the max rpm to say 4000 I would be in an even worse situation as my jackshaft would be at 6800rpm meaning I would need an even bigger reduction ratio.

Final Drive Solutions for CVTech - 6.9:1 Reduction Needed!!!
Hi Guys, Got a bit of an issue plenty of you will have already overcome so looking for advice. I have an Kubota Z482 engine and CVT package from an Aixam, the CVT has an overdrive of 1:1.7 meaning that when the engine is at full chat 3600rpm the driven side of the CVT will be at 6120rpm. I am reckon...

Effect of CVT when using a Governed Engine
Hello everyone, I have been chewing this over in my head a bit recently and wondering if anyone has experience of the matter, Basically a CVT adjusts based on engine speed vs load to keep the engine speed at a consistent RPM. The governor in the Diesel engine adjusts the amount of fuel delivered to ...

Re: Is that bike diesel mate.
I have also just read this book, bought it to take on holiday with me, great read by the way I found Paul carter to be very funny :) but it did sound like the uni made a bit of a hash of designing the drive system, maybe they got the drive alignment wrong or the CVT used simply wasn't the right one ...

Re: Cheap & easily avalible CVT's under our nose's!!
I think the thing that we all need to remember is that CVT's work on centrifugal force, against a contrast spring to keep the engine at a constant velocity. What you are saying BertTrack is correct, as without the higher RPM's the CVT's weights/cams aren't producing sufficient Centrifugal force to p...

Re: Cheap & easily avalible CVT's under our nose's!!
I am looking into mounting it onto a piaggio zip 50cc frame with 10inch wheels (I have 2 scrappers at the bottom of my garden from my pedding days) and making a new swinging arm in place of the standard engine and transmission, the flat foot rest lends its self to mounting one of these engines...

Cheap & easily avalible CVT's under our nose's!!
Right then guy's! First things first before I go into why we can use these particular cheap and plentiful CVT's..... You may get a little lost in my explanations but please bare with me as it will all come together at the end... Engine power is measured in Torque, weather it be in ft/lb's or Nm. The...
