I am mounting the inner primary and was wondering how to line up the motor precisely so as to be able to use the alternator. It seems that if you are off, you will be doomed mounting the alt.

One way! Machine your engine adaptor plate with locating flanges, one into the diameter of the engine seal area and also the chaincase, easily done if using the Taurus inner chaincase, there is also enough room usually for the adaptor to engine flange.
If that isn't possible, one would make a locating sleeve that will locate these parts using the output shaft as datum reference.
Cheers

No mate, I use the power from the yanclone engine stator, if you have problems with current setup, Yanmar sells a 15 amp unit or check out the posts here https://www.dieselbikeforum.com/view ... ator#p5187 where thunderbird done some of his own rewinding magic, this is a good option if your using another type of diesel .
You could have a go at using the rotor/stator in the chaincase, but if your engine has it's own power source I'd suggest this might be the best bet.
