Not quite sure what the project will be. Got to get the engine started yet. Needs new starter motor to see if its a runner.
Engine is a Perkins 2cyl 400cc 11bhp. very small.

It came from my local scrap yard. In a frame, tow vbelts driveing a hydraulic pump. Judeing from the govenor locked into the middle position has only been used at half rpm. The engine weighs 54kg acording to the spec.

Now that looks like a good Enfield engine.

I have been looking at the new Lombardini twins, water cooled, 700cc and 17hp.

Nice

It is lighter than my Hatz by about 10 kg. I envy you Brits, you must have the best scrap yards in the world! Seems like that's where you get all your cool stuff. All we have in the States are dead Japanese bikes and old lawnmower engines.

Yeah looks like a really good find, nice compact little unit.

Damn :) the things you UK lads seem to be able to pick up around the yards etc, intriguing to say the least :)

It's just Sam that has access the the best scrap yards, his last 'find' was a complete road sweeper which donated the 950 Rugg twin plus loads of hydraulics and a 5 foot fan for the 'hoover' part.

All I have are car 'Slavage' yards, full of overpriced insurance write off's.

Keep a close look out for any refrigerated lorry units as there's usually a nice small diesel in the fridge unit, mostly water cooled triple Kubota's.

The little 402C series Perkins has been readily available here on the surplus market in the states for some time. Surplus Center in Lincoln, NE had a huge stock of new ones for $750 a piece until just recently, however they don't have them listed currently. They were also frequently listed on Ebay, but not currently. I do wonder whether a bunch of the C series engines were dumped on the market because they didn't meet the Tier III standards. It appears as thought the D series are Tier III. The one below is a bit salty at $1350 OBO.
