Derek Rynhart's Supercharger

Post by pietenpol2002 »

Most of us know of Derek's efforts to supercharge the little Hatz 1B30 powered Royal Enfield. In the event boredom gets the better of you, his patent application makes an interesting read (be sure to click the "description" tab).

Interestingly, he proposes utilizing air from the engine's cooling fan to pre-charge the the actual supercharger. And it does seem to share some features with the supercharger on the opposed-piston DKW engine.

Nice posts guy's = Yeah nothing like the sound of a 2 stroke diesel Nanco :) .

I've also wondered how well Derek's Supercharger would go on a yanclone 406 or larger? I know the Hatz diesel was breaking crankshafts so that stopped the project fairly quickly.

That's a good point Ron! Yes using some forced air from the fan would help load the supercharger with a full volume of air. There seems to be a good volume from the yanclone type engines, I guess the hatz etc are the same.

Turbo's on singles are always going to be a hassle with plenum chambers etc, even though this type of supercharger required engine power to run, I can see it being a good option.

A ;)
