bike done and off

so the kwaker turned out fairly nice. pesky left side drive, belt driven, ugh. kept the left side drive but opted for chain. pushes the duster out farther, but he didnt mind. custom colour. ick, but he paid, so i shot.

didnt have time for some specs on the first posts, but wanted to let all know that its a twin tank system, biodiesel in the left and straight vegetable oil in the right. thus the twin filters. heating element and pump are on the backbone in between the tanks. fitted an aftermarket harley dash panel after these pics were taken. a switch for swapping tanks, and a veg thermometer to show temp of the veg going into the engine. comet 94c duster, fitted with the extra pucks for lower engagement (thanks for the tip, fiddler!). 72t rear (had to go that big to fit where the old belt drive was). 24t front right now. hard to see speedo with all the shaking, and i hope to get more info from the client on how she does overall. had her doing 50mph with plenty to go it seemed tho. time to work on my harley now. i'll try for updates on that. going with another punsun and a 6 spd ultima rsd gearbox.

Great looking build! If the sound don't get them in the color will :)

So do the V-Twins knock as hard as the single Yanmar Clones?

Praise for such a nice looking bike!

Cheers

thank you. she doesnt knock too much. shakes all to hell, but there is a sweet spot she runs at as well. my lombardini bike knocks more. definitely diesel, and yes, the colour is absolutely horrendous IMHO. but as i said, you pay, i paint. spoke with the client today. he said the veg side works just fine. will run on diesel until her seals are broken in, though. doesnt want veg in the crankcase. understandable. said he had many looks as he trailered from portland, oregon, to las vegas, nevada. even a cop pulled him over to ask about it. abuse of power? in any event, the $6k USD spent out the door was well worth it he said. he has 2 other svo vehicles, so he's no stranger to the veg. free ride. glad to put another diesel bike on the road. we're not that off, are we?

Not to my personal taste but very nicely executed.

Maybe I could get used to cruising around like a funky Californian hippy time warped in from the 1970s :D

Nice to use a split tank. I'm still not entirely sure how I am going to fit the second tank to my Enfield so that I can get it running on veg. I had considered dividing a standard Enfield tank but have not got the welding skills or the money to pay someone to do it for me. Was considering somehow using one of the tool boxes and an electric pump to push the oil up to the injection pump.

I would expect with nice liquid oils that gravity feed to the injection pump would be enough. Did you have issues or just add the pump to allow you to mount the heater high?

What did you use for the vegetable oil heater? And the fuel pump?

Best

darren,
i would be happy to weld something up for you, or... consider this- harley uses a separate oil tank often affixed to the side of the bike. might i suggest this to be used for diesel, and your tank for the veg, as i suspect you'll use more veg. simply start and stop the rig with diesel, and switching valves for the veg. i had to use a pump, as there was little room for running lines and they went higher that the tanks. my 3 way switching valves are located under the green side covers. fuel (both diesel and veg) comes out the bottom, the pump sucks it through the switching valve, up to the top of the backbone where the pump sits, the pushes through the vegtherm (also on the backbone, but lower), off to the engine. return lines are run through the other 3 way and back to the tanks. the fuel pump is smaller than a racquetball. fit perfectly under the dash on the backbone. that help?

If you can do it for no money and send it to me in the UK I'd be your best mate.

:D :D :D :D

I've been looking for something that I could use for the tank . Ideally it wants to look 'nice'.

I pulled various plastic expansion tanks from the coolant system on a few cars my mate was scrapping - nothing that I could fit without it looking terrible.

I've got a mate who I think is good enough to weld my tank (he's coded) but he spends all his time developing crazy circus acts an associated machinery and generally doesn't have any money. If I could find him (he has temporarily, I hope, disappeared) it would only be right to pay him to get him on my fuel tank and I don't have any money + it would ruin a half sensible looking tank.

Anyone got anything that would work for me?

I was thinking that an old metal fuel tank from an old strimmer, lawnmower or similar may look the part and already has the right type of cap and fuel connection

ive got an harley sportster oil tank, its been modified at the back a bit to form a battery box as well, so its capacity is a bit reduced but it should still hold plenty for your needs. Pm me if you want any more details.
