From Parts Unkown

Post by pietenpol2002 »

Here's a puzzler. Interesting build using an IZH donor with a sweet little belt drive to what - a sprocketed Dnepr box?? Certainly a novel use of the kickstart shaft as the gearbox mount and then the light weight starter on the handlebars? Anyone have a clue as to the location? I'll email the poster (on goawaygarage) and see if he knows the origin.

I like that a lot. That could be an answer to putting a large engine into a Ural, in jurisdictions where altering the frame is verboden - put it across the frame, retain the original gearbox ( 8) ) with a home-brew primary chain and chain case, and make a sprocket hanger for the rear wheel out of the splined bit the crown wheel usually bolts to. No need to cope with broken rubber drive donuts (like I'm struggling with) or to buy expensive hi-ratio crown and pinion sets. If one were allowed to chop the frame about a little, one could put the engine down low - maintaining the 'line' of a shaft drive system prevents this.

I'm almost minded to obtain another frame and try again.

Yet another study in a belt driven transversely mounted Dnepr gearbox coupled to a Yanclone.

I believe that's a build by a friend of numuzmar on the forum here.

Good catch. I missed that entirely. Even though I recall seeing that video clip. Interesting that he's got a centrifugal clutch mated to that box. So then, what's the function of the clutch handle?
