hello from oxfordshire

Post by the grinch »

Hi
I am running out of projects so i am making a start on planning the next one for the winter.
I currently ride my homemade heap of crap hard tail built it 2003 still going just.
I need to upgrade to a new bike i want somthing different maybe with a sidecar .

My critera is.

1 Cheep.
2 It must be able to live out all year around.
3 Be able to ride it in the rain.
4 Black or rusty maybe both.
5 Sinking of diesel able to run on veg oil if needed.
6 Car engine and as many bits off car as i can use (save money) not sure which yet VW maybe.
7 Will have to pass SVA.
8 Got to be Different.
9 Able to do about 85-90 with no real effort.
10 Must be Hideous to look at.

I was looking arround on Interweb found this site have been thinking for a while about a diesel bike .I am currently laid up not able to work or ride my bike so I thought it would be a good time to plan next project.
I am looking forward to the challenge of making everything from scratch again.

Cut the body off a FWD car and bolt a bike chassis to the front of it. Or the back of it.
Put a big engine in a rickshaw.

Go to the jockey journal ( http://www.choppercompendium.com ) Click on the trike build section and choose "noteson trike building" !

I give a rundown on how to use an automobile engine and trans (fwd) to make a worm (purpose built permanent bike/hack combo )

That build with a diesel should be ugly enuff fer anyone !! :D

Hi
I like a trike but i think it would be too easy (built mini trike before) if i had the bike and a sidecar it would give me 2 options for riding.
However i do have a old gsx frame in the garage and a set of long forks from somthing.
but its early days i got ages to plan yet.
I am thinking of using vw 1.9 engine with manual box. I have looking for a bevel box looked at field topper gearbox i think it would work but I may find somthing more suitable.
I am after some Dimensions of the VW engine and box if anyone has them to hand.
Thanks
Alex

:D Its on I am now the proud owner of a heap of crap but running fiesta turbo diesel I had to pay out £60. Am going to take what I need from it flog the wheels and tyres and a few other bits. I will then take the rest of the rust to the scrap yard up the road. If im lucky I might make a bit from it that I can pay for some steel later. Next on my list will be a right angle drive not sure where from yet the lads brought part of a helicopter tail back from the ranges the other day thought it may had one but no luck there. Any ideas are much apriciated :D

I believe farming machine suppliers might have something.

How about engine front to back . Lock one drive shaft off and use the other for shaft drive. I have seen it done several times.
