thoughts on electric turbos and the 186f?

I know its super cheap http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Tansky-N ... 76343.html
But even if it will produce 1lb of boost would it be a noticeable difference?
I know it draws a lot of amps but my engine is in a boat and Im going to run a belt drive automobile alternator in the future for lights.

Has anyone tried electric turbos on anything before?

heres a very informative write up but pertains to what cfm's are car engine needs,I think a smaller 86mm piston may benifet from a small cheap blower.

also look into how folk have made supercharger's (compressors) out of smog pumps. the combination of electric and typical pressure upage (Turbo or supercharger compressor) may be the way to go. The electric would help early in the RPM range while the other in the upper ranges. This is how some of the new diesels coming out with electric turbo's are going to be laid out.

Some of the latest thinking on cars is to up the overall vehicle voltage & employ a super cap to power a blower.
I've seen people cut the fins from their flywheels to improve response but often wonder if they do this at the expense of not ducting the cooling air into the intake? My Hatz 1B30 ducted a small amount of air into the intake like a basic blower. I spent quite a bit of time on my knees with a smouldering piece of hemp rope trying to determine if the air box design itself was restricting the air flow & came to the conclusion that it was at higher revs. An extra hole helped greatly as did replacing the cardboard filter with s foam one. Slightly off topic there but all part of the same story. I'd like to see more guys experimenting with electric blowers.

I think I may buy a radio controlled plane ducted fan unit.some are about 3" round and put out 7 lbs of thrust at 12 volts.I have been flying planes for awhile.Less amp draw,smaller packages and cheaper.

But before that I think head needs polish work.A larger exhaust valve would be nice.Something like this with a 540 brushed motor.

It won't make any boost on an engine.
Thrust and unrestricted CFM don't mean anything when discussing compressors.

For one, there is no stator on the fan to convert the rotational flow into linear and create pressure.
Second, high thrust RC type ducted fans will consume upwards of 50amps of power to operate.
Third, 1psi of boost on a ~450cc diesel works out to about 1cfm or 0.08lb/min additional airflow. Equivalent to about 20cc additional displacement or less than 0.5hp (if your fueling is adjusted to match airflow).

You're better off putting that $15 towards lower rolling resistance tires or synthetic oils.

This video in today's world of fast paced technology advances is old and out of date in many respects. Sure the cheap/pimped electric turbo's are crap..... but that is all the information that can come out of that vid. One should not infer that info to other elec. turbos with real science behind them.
