yanmar clone erratic running

Post by wkoucky »

I finally (after 8 years) have my yanmar clone Royal Enfield build running. The engine runs in spurts. I don't know if it is just because it hasn't run in years or because it has run in total for less than an hour but it hesitates and then runs. Any ideas?

When it hesistates, does it sound like its misfiring?

Any change in the amount or colour of smoke coming out of the exhaust?

If I recall right from past reading; these clones do not neccissarilly come with the IP on them timed correctly. Find a yanmar write up on how to time the injection pump.

But before that run some fuel cleaner thru it like seafoam?

I also find they are very senstive to air leaks on the injector leak off line. Ask how I know :)
