Car Engined Bike Rally in Holland

Post by Mouse »

Just been invited to the Smit Bros Car engined bike rally in Holland this coming year and thought I'd share as a few of the diesel bikes have car engines in them.
It is an irregular show and was cancelled the last few years. They say.
Dear friends:

It finally will happen again, after the great succes of 2010 we like to invite everybody to be at the 2014 Car Engined Bike
Meeting Meeting at 16 t/m 18 May.
You can arrive on Friday and have a chat in the evening at our premishes.
Saturday will again be the day to show your bike, and this year we will have a small trip aroud the island, this will be in
two groups so there will be alway bikes at the showground for visitors to look at, and give the participants the chanche to
enjoy a short ride.
Our private collection will be open all weekend.
We have planned a BBQ in the evening ( please let us know if you are interested ) after wich we have the chance to talk and drink.
Sundaymorning we can have a chat and prepare to leave for home again.
If you do know of someone with such a bike please dragg him with you to Texel :-)
Please let us know if you are planning to come !

We really hope we will see you again in May !

With kind regards: Alfons & Hans Smit.

Car Engined-BikeMeeting - Texel 2014

At the weekend of May 16 t/m 18, there will be a meeting for motorcycles powered with a Car-engine. These special kind of bikes, has brought some of the most exclusive and technically interesting bikes ever. >From 2 up to 12 cilinders; 2 and 4-stroke; Diesel and Rotary configuration. In the end they all are very rare, with production figures from a few up to about 500. As there are: Amazonas, BFG, Boccardo, Boss-Hoss, MF, Münch, Quasar, Shifty, Tigre, Track 800, and Van Veen OCR 1000, offcourse the homebuild bikes should be mentioned with sometimes great engineering and all kinds of engines like Citroën, Daihatsu, Peugeot, Renault, Smart, Subaru, VW, Zastava etc.

Therefore we would like to invite everybody who has such a bike to come to Texel.

I went to the rally and took some pictures!

I got there first so I got to see all the arrivals, the first to arrive was this gentleman and his daugther from Germany, (I forgot to ask his/her name sadly enough), on his Hatz 2G40 powered Dnepr MT10-36 from 1979 with an BMW r1050 Clutch. And also a really cool fuel tank. (He wore a big knock 2012 T-shirt!) He also gave permission to upload these photo's on to the site. (If an admin would be so nice as to do this).

I know it looks a lot like the LOËW build but the man build this himself, he told me he didn't like the fact that LOËW did not put the engine on rubber dampeners. :)

If you ask me this build is a work of art.

There also was aRoyal Enfield Bullet 500 Machismo with a 325cc greaves engine produced in India and imported to the Netherlands. It's owned by the Smitbro's them selves.

I didn't see Nanko there tough, the organisers said he had troubles with his Peuguzzi and had to call off, (this is not verified tough). :(
Also there were a lot of other intresting bikes there of which I will upload pictures if anyone wants me to. :)
