Little concerned with Comet duster since it is no longer produced. Do not know if the CVtech version is exact enough copy for parts interchangability. Expect parts over time to be an issue.DieselFly wrote:Springs and weights are cheap. A new setup might run you $600 but shop around. A comet Duster 94C is perfect for the horsepower you are looking at and very cheap to tune. Look under Mini Bike andd Go karts at mfgsupply.com

Re: More compact mounting of CVT
Comet is up and running again. CVTech and comet are nothing alike in design. They are both very adjustable and I know parts for the Comet can be had from MFGsupply. I was going to use a comet but just as I started my project they went tits up and I found CVTech

Well CVTech is in CA so it made simce for you to go with them anyway. Also they have the special price to schools.DieselFly wrote:Comet is up and running again. GoCart supply say's Comet 94c are still out of production http://www.gokartsupply.com/94c.htm. They do offer the other Comet models with some types listed as "not available" compared to the 94C listing of "out of production" so at least by their info.... all models BUT the 94c are still manufactured
MFGsupply list all Comet clutches BUT the 94c in the generic "CVT clutch" area..

though they do list them in the snowbmobile area.. http://www.mfgsupply.com/snowmobile/sno ... et94c.html
Carts Plus does not sell any comet stuff. They seem to sell only CVtech and Team Ind.

So it's mixed messages about what "comet" is actually available or will stay available
OT- Interstingly... Carts Plus does offer machining of the driven pulley which allows the two halves of sheave to close together farther to push belt out to a larger diameter. which lowers starting gear ratio allowing motor to rev faster.
