Links to cross discussions on CVT

Post by coachgeo »

Sometimes threads about a particular bike or project will get into a few post about the builders CVT. Figured we should put links to these interludes of good information here in this thread to help keep all the CVT info reachable via this forum. If anyone see's a thread with some usefull CVT information stuck in the middle of the thread...... please do a post up in this thread with a link to it. I'll then copy that link you posted into this one too create a menu of links.

. Some good Comet info: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2449

SAE Baja Research

Post by dieselbikin »

Here's an interesting forum dealing with the CVTs used in SAE Baja competitions. Contains a great deal of research from engineering students. Also, they use 10hp Briggs motors, so the information should be espeacially useful to Yanclone users.

By searching ("SAE Baja" CVT) there is probably an endless supply of info on the net.

If you read all the way down you'll see the Kymco variator that "is popular with ATVs up to 300cc". A 300cc gas burner makes more peak horsepower than most of our engines, although noteably less torque at low RPMs.
