Dave,
I was looking over the specs on the military diesel bike. Things like 33 hp, clutchless transmission, and dry cell battery confused me. Never heard of a clutchless transmission, and the left side handle bar looks to have a clutch lever (maybe an additional brake lever?), and I figured they would use a military grade AGM battery like an Odyssey battery (I've got one on my diesel bike). 33 hp out of a 670cc single cylinder engine could only be done with a lot of high rpm, not the 3,600/4,000 rpm diesels were used to. Even N/A 1.6L VW diesel (red lined @ 5,200 rpm) would only make 52 hp.
Do you think the bike is for real?

Coachgeo,
Yes indeed, diesel KLR sounds like vaporware.....
I owned a '06 KLR until I broke my left shoulder on it 4 years ago. It was okay, and also the largest displacement single I've ridden and owned. But to be honest, I had much more fun on the '78 XT500 I owned way back when. The KLR had too many "improvements" such as ultra long suspension (cause of my broken shoulder), DOHC which made valve adjustment a pain, electric start (sucks on cold winter days when battery is frozen) and no kick start to be found, and the famous KLR cam chain tensioner that would self destruct in time unless you replaced it with an after market one and I almost forgot, liquid cooling and a water pump seal prone to failure. My XT was easy to kick over, and could not be blown up by insane amounts of throttle. Only down side was chains, sprocket and rear tires didn't last long. The KLR was an old worn out design that needed something done...I'm surprised the military would have any interest in it. If you want a real engine, you get an air cooled OHV unit with a big piston and not to high compression ratio....8 to 1 is good. 500cc's is a nice round number and very easy on fuel.
I gotta stop rambling....
