B20 Bomber chopper aka BioWillie Chopper

Post by bearhawk »

I'm looking for bike build info using the Yanmar 2v78. This lead me to look more into the BioWillie Chopper as I knew they had used a 2v78 in it. On the private production page http://www.dieselbike.net/privateproduc ... uction.htm is shown the B20 chopper made for Willie Nelson. On that page it says it's a 1450cc engine. That is not right. It has a yanmar 2v78 which is 750cc and 20hp at 3600 rpm. From what I can find it was made by Cartel Customs which I can't find a valid webpage for. There is a video of the build on Youtube too at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPAbPg4T04c. I have some other photos of the bike I got from the guys at Martin Diesel in Ohio. They saw it at a Diesel show and told me it was the 2V78 engine. They are a yanmar distributor and they should know. It looks just like my 2v78 too.

Looking online the bike was sold at auction after Willie was done with it. I'd like to find out what Harley transmission they used, primary belt ratio and secondary chain ratio. I wonder what the top speed was? Fuel economy? What do the engine mounts look like? etc. When it went to auction it had never been titled. I'm not sure who bought it or what they did with it. I'd love to talk with them though.

You can also ask Willie straight up & directly:

I don't agree with all his viewpoints but he's pretty much regular folks. He can probaly tell you more or point you in the right direction.

isn't there two versions of this engine? The old and the new? I seem to remember the old one being a bit noisy and so they brought out a quieter version.
If anyone wants to post the correct details here I'll cut and paste the papragraph onto that particular webpage. I don't get to maintain those pages as much as I'd like too what with being spread a bit thin these days with Twitter, Facebook and forum. If I contact Willie I'd probably end up sending him some of my C&W songs :D

Hello my name is Chris Sanchez, President of Cartel Customs, Dallas TX & we recently (November) completed a custom chopper built for Earth Bio Fuels company. The bike is on tour at various conventions & was presented to Willie Nelson who sits on the BOD of EBF. Please forward me an address (email) of the editor & I will forward you photos of the completed motorcycle. I promise you this one will raise the bar in custom Biodiesel bikes.

Our next project is building a bike to run on E85 fuels. I can be reached for comment at chris@cartelcustoms.com
