Baker transmission

Post by bearnyc »

Finally got the Baker "6 into 4" transmission into the bike. The previous aftermarket HD transmission was a 4 speed made by Motor Factory. It was fraught with issues, including kickstart gears that would shred themselves(even with the gas HD motor). The only argument I can think of against the Baker is the (high) cost. It is really well made. Every part shows an amazing attention to detail. The N-1 shifter drum makes the jockey shift a lot simpler/safer as well. We spend so much time complaining about junk parts here, I thought I give something a rave review.

One pleasant surprise is that it is possible to kick start the Punsun, even when stone cold. I'm no longer using the electric starter. I'd seen some vids of people kicking Punsuns, but wasn't sure it was possible cold.

Top speed seems to be 73MPH.

Nothing has exploded yet, and it's more fun to ride each time.

Nice looking bike bearnyc, great to know the bike will kick start also, the single starts real easy and I always wondered how the V-Twin would start.

A ;)
